On bouncing back after the Leeds defeat: ‘It’s an amazing feeling. We had to bounce back. It’s not just about Leeds, we had two games that we didn’t win, so we knew we had to put in a great performance because Chelsea is a very good side.’

On the top-four race: ‘It was very important for us because we know our aim is to get to the top four. They [Chelsea] are the closest ones there, so making that distance is perfect for us, and that’s what we need.’

On United’s solid defence: ‘Great performance from everyone. The back line did a great job; some players out of position, but they were really strong in the duels. It was a big team effort.’

On Champions League qualification: ‘I feel three points closer. That’s it. We know we need more points and we’ll do everything possible to get it done as quickly as we can.’
