Teen slashed on neck in morning NYC attack steps from Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall: cops

A teen was slashed on the neck in an early morning attack steps from Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall, cops said.

The 18-year-old victim was knifed around 1:55 a.m. in front of a 48-story office tower on the Avenue of the Americas near West 51st Street, a short walk from the tourist hotspots, authorities said. 

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

His attacker, only described as a male, fled the scene and had not been caught several hours later. 

The motive for the pre-dawn attack was not immediately known. 

The attack took place in the confines of the NYPD’s Midtown North precinct, where felony assaults have slightly risen compared to this time last year, according to the latest data, updated Sunday. 

A total of 1,084 such crimes were reported during that time period this year, while 1,074 occurred in the same span in 2025, the statistics show. 

However, overall felony crime in the precinct’s confines is down by more than 7 percent this year – with 4,491 such cases reported compared to 4,836 in 2025, according to the data.
