Adelaide Clemens talks about starring in the film ‘Kangaroo Island’

Australian actress Adelaide Clemens chatted about starring in the new movie “Kangaroo Island.”

The synopsis is: A struggling Hollywood actress Lou Wells (Rebecca Breeds) returns home to Kangaroo Island, confronting the love triangle that tore her family apart.

In “Kangaroo Island,” Adelaide plays Lou Wells’ sister Freya.

Experience making this film

On her experience in “Kangaroo Island,” she said, “It was so much fun! It was so wonderful. I had the best time filming that movie. Everyone was so lovely and the location and being home was awesome.”

Playing Freya in ‘Kangaroo Island’

Adelaide was drawn to playing Freya for several reasons. “I liked figuring out how she would find her own feet. I thought it was really fun,” she admitted.

“Freya is trying to map exactly when she breaks… when that explosion sort of unleashes her,” she noted. “It kind of snaps her out of the denial that she has been in… she’s unhappy in her life and her marriage, so that was interesting to explore.”

“This character was just interesting to craft emotionally,” she added.

Lessons learned from the screenplay

On the lessons learned from this screenplay, she reflected, “I think it’s such a beautiful movie, isn’t it? I mean, it really teaches you things.”

“I think it’s rare that films can do this effectively, but it really gives you that perspective of holding on at the end of the day, and what really matters. We all know that, but we do get wrapped up in our lives,” she elaborated.

“So, I think it’s important to be a part of a project that inspires people to call their moms, dads, families and to go home every once in a while, which I’m doing right now… I just got back to Australia a week ago,” she explained.

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, Adelaide said, “That’s a great question It is both great and challenging… I think you’ve just got to figure out this technology, which has been evolving for centuries. So, we need to adapt with it and evolve with it. So, it’s an interesting time.”

“It feels very competitive, but I also like competition,” she admitted. “I think if you just keep sight of what’s in your control, which is just to do good work… that’s kind of my mantra lately.

Advice for young and emerging actors

For young and aspiring actors, she encouraged them to “do good work.”

Stage of her life

On the title of the current chapter of her life, Adelaide stated, “Well, I have twins who are about to turn two years old. So, we are traveling the world together and going from job to job, city hopping, and country hopping.”

“So, there are a lot of airports and there are a lot of two-year-olds having tantrums on airplanes… I would say that’s the chapter I’m in,” she noted.

Superpower of choice

Her superpower of choice would be “flight.” “Hands down, I’ve always wanted to fly,” she said.

Success

Regarding her definition of the word success, Adelaide said, “This is deep… I mean, there are so many answers to that question, but I would say being able to take care of my kids.”

Message for her fans

For her fans and supporters, she said, “Thank you for being my fans. Thanks for all the support. It’s very touching when people respond to my work. So, I’m still very lucky to be able to do this.”

Closing thoughts on ‘Kangaroo Island’

Adelaide remarked about the new movie, “I think there is a really beautiful message in this film. I think there are a lot of plot points in the film, but there is also a lot of humor in there.”

“I think Australian humor is such a good salve for things. I mean, it can be kind of morbid, but it’s also a great strategy for dealing with crisis. I would say…. you just get on with it. We just get on with it. Don’t we? It’s great,” Adelaide concluded.
