Pre-Orders Open for ASUS Zenbook DUO (UX8407) Laptop with Two Full OLED Touchscreens

Pre-orders opened today for the ASUS Zenbook DUO model UX8407, a laptop built around two full-size touchscreens that work side by side without forcing you to carry extra weight or bulk. Engineers trimmed the chassis by five percent from the earlier model and wrapped it in a material called Ceraluminum that feels solid yet stays light at 3.64 pounds total with the keyboard attached. The whole package slips easily into most bags at just over twelve inches wide and less than an inch thick at its slimmest.
The two 14-inch OLED screens sit one above have 3K resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a refresh rate of 144 Hz to keep things moving smoothly whether you’re scrolling, on a video call, or doing anything else. For regular use, you get a rather reasonable 500 nits of brightness; increase that to 1,000 nits for HDR material and you’ll have a really stunning picture. Not to mention an anti-glare coating, which reduces the usual glare in brighter rooms. Meanwhile, a new hinge reduces the gap between the screens by 70%, making your workspace feel more seamless and eliminating the need for scroll bars.

Lift the top screen past 175 degrees, and the full-size Bluetooth keyboard will fit between the two screens, kept in place by magnetic latches and retractable pins that also charge your keyboard. When you remove the keyboard, the bottom screen becomes your second display, providing you with any extra space you may require for documents, chat windows, or drawing apps… all at once if you want to get wild. The keyboard includes its own batteries, so you can either drop it on the lower screen or pull it out and use it on your desk; either way, it will connect automatically.

All of this is powered by an Intel Core Ultra X9 Series 3 processor, with possibilities up to the 388H model, along with a staggering 32GB of fast memory and at least one terabyte of storage for when you need it. Intel Arc handles graphics, and this machine can perform up to 50 trillion operations per second for AI tasks, without the need for a separate chip. With three times as many fans and vents as before, that processor can easily reach 45 watts and continue to run.
It runs all day thanks to a 99 watt-hour battery, and the 100 watt USB-C charger that comes with the laptop gets it back up and running quickly. On the sides, you’ll find two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a normal USB-A, HDMI output, and an audio jack. That’s enough to attach anything, such as an external monitor, disks, or headphones, without the need for any flimsy adapters. WiFi 7 and the latest Bluetooth 5.4 provide wireless communication for all your demands.

Sound is delivered elegantly through six separate Dolby Atmos speakers, two of which are artfully tucked inside the hinge, allowing sound to just ‘burst out at you’ during your favorite movies or conference calls, providing the immersive audio experience you’ve been missing. An infrared camera discretely situated above the top screen handles face login and works flawlessly even in low-light settings. Built-in software adapts well to how you use your screens, allowing you to easily alter windows, touch controls, and sharing options to suit how you want to work or play.
Pre-order costs start at $2,499 for the entry-level model, which includes a Core Ultra 9 386H CPU, or $2,699 for the higher-specced version with the 388H chip. Surprisingly, both of these models will be packaged in a neutral gray color and will be available for purchase online from the ASUS store right now.
