Toyota Crown Signia GT-S Concept Lowers Into a Canyon Ready Grand Tourer for SEMA

Toyota Motorsports Garage has prepared a Crown Signia GT-S Concept for the SEMA show in Las Vegas, taking the practical hybrid crossover and giving it the posture of something meant for winding roads while keeping space for people and gear.
Custom-made one-of-a-kind MCS coilovers reduce the ride height of this Crown Signia by over five inches, lowering the car’s long roofline and body to the ground. On top of that, the widebody fenders have been entirely integrated to wrap around those big 21-inch HRE wheels, which fit flawlessly inside the stretched bodywork without seeming like they were slapped on.

The wheels are the special 21-inch wheels that Toyota uses on some of its other high-end cars, wrapped in 295-millimeter-wide tires that Toyota claims provide around 20% more traction on the road than the usual setup. Massive brake calipers from the Lexus RX 500h F SPORT fill the space behind those wheels. They can be found on both the front and back of the car.

The custom-painted body is a stunning dark gray metallic color, with a customized blend created to seem extremely detailed on the paint work. There’s a lot of extra flake added to give it a beautiful sheen, and numerous coats of clear were used to pull it all together. The headlights have been redesigned and now have red accents, as well as a lower front air dam and several vents on the fenders. Out back, there’s a completely revised treatment that has a diffuser with those trapezoid-shaped exhaust points, really nice.

Inside, the highly bolstered front seats have red highlights and GT-S marking on the headrest, as well as a matching red bit on the gear stick, as this is a one-of-a-kind vehicle. The rest of the cabin retains its production seats, as does the hybrid powertrain, which combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with electric motors to provide approximately 240 horsepower through a CVT box and all-wheel drive.

This is a one-of-a-kind prototype made up of parts that aren’t standard issue, so if you were to use it on the road, you’d want to think very carefully about the whole safety, legal, and warranty situation, but here at the SEMA show, it’s all about demonstrating what this Crown Signia can do – turning it into a true grand tourer without sacrificing its practicality.
