Grok Bot Arrives in Tesla Vehicles Ready to Order Coffee, Clean Calendars, and Check Email While You Drive

Tesla confirmed on Tuesday that Grok inside its cars can now do real work, not only answer questions and change cabin settings. Drivers already able to wake the assistant from the App Launcher, a long press on the steering wheel microphone, or a spoken “Hey Grok” can ask it to check an inbox, tidy a calendar, or walk through files, chats, and tasks without picking up a phone. Tesla’s own post put it plainly: Grok in the car can now do meaningful work for you, all hands-free.

Connectors are what get that initial layer up and running, and you can add them to the Grok app by touching the + symbol at the bottom, selecting New Connector, selecting a service to connect to, and logging in. Following that, the same voice session in the automobile can automatically access those accounts. Tesla hasn’t provided a comprehensive list of supported services yet, but owner reports and scattered coverage suggest email, calendars, and files are among the originals, with the car treating those links as tools rather than a distinct app on the central screen.

Grok Bot sits on top of it and handles the longer tasks, such as placing a regular coffee order, booking a restaurant table, or organizing a doctor’s appointment. Tesla has only created a handful instances of this type of device thus far. That agent is currently only available to SuperGrok Heavy members, who pay $300 each month, but they say more options will be added in the future. Devan Olsen, a Vancouver business owner, has already used it in conjunction with Full Self-Driving: he asked Grok to order him a coffee from Starbucks while FSD handled the driving, and it confirmed the order and total out loud before having it ready to go when the car stopped. Sawyer Merritt utilized the same speech interface to place online orders, including Amazon, and to handle his email, calendar, and other chores. Other sources describe food delivery and restaurant reservation services as part of the same process.

Actually, nothing new appears on the screen as a standalone program. Grok Bot just exists within the same voice session that owners are already familiar with. You can still use the cabin controls during the discussion, including navigation, calls, music search, climate control, your glove box, and queries about the vehicle. Of course, hardware counts, as Grok requires an AMD infotainment processor, software version 2025.26 or later, and Premium Connectivity or solid Wi-Fi. To be clear, Tesla still considers its in-car assistant to be in beta. Grok allows you to make calls from a linked phone, but you cannot currently send SMS.

Connectors are initially set up over the phone. Once you’ve linked a service, the cabin session can utilize it without having to sign in again via the touchscreen. Tesla has yet to announce when Heavy-only agent tasks will be available to lesser Grok plans. The official support page has yet to catch up with what was written on Tuesday. For owners who are already conversing with Grok on the highway, the move is essentially as simple as saying what you want, keeping your hands on the wheel or leaving the driving to FSD, and then letting the car do everything for you by the time you park.
