Killer driver who pleaded guilty to DUI hit and run of two Ole Miss students released from prison 9 years early

A killer driver who pleaded guilty to a DUI hit-and-run crash that left an Ole Miss student dead and another injured has been released from prison nine years early due to “good behavior.”

Seth Garron Rokitka, 30, will be cut loose after a judge amended his 10-year prison sentence over the fatal 2022 wreck in Oxford, Mississippi, that killed 21-year-old Walker Fielder, the Oxford Eagle reported.

Rokitka, who was sentenced less than a year ago, had recently asked for his punishment to be reviewed, given he’s been holed up in custody since his arrest in late 2022.

The judge noted in his amended order that Rokitka was “worthy of reconsideration” given his rehabilitation, treatment and conduct in the time he was incarcerated.

Under the revised sentence, Rokitka must maintain a clean record, serve a 5-year probation, and complete 50 years of community service.

The reduced sentence comes after Rokitka admitted to slamming into the two Ole Miss students, killing Fielder and injuring 20-year-old Blanche Williamson, in the early morning hours of Oct. 16, 2022, in downtown Oxford.
