Academy Award-nominated actress Kathleen Turner (“Peggy Sue Got Married”) chatted about starring in the new Angel Studios film “Animal Farm,” where she is voicing Benjamin the donkey.

Aside from Ms. Turner, it stars Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Andy Serkis, and Iman Vellani.

“Animal Farm,” directed by Emmy winner Andy Serkis, is a satirical allegory of revolution and power. It traces how a movement for equality is systematically corrupted.

As the pigs consolidate control, truth is erased, dissent is crushed, and the farm descends into a ruthless dictatorship—fulfilling Orwell’s warning about the dangers of communism.

It will be released in theaters on May 1st via Angel Studios.

Experience in ‘Animal Farm’

On her experience being a part of “Animal Farm,” Turner remarked, “I enjoyed it very, very much. I mean, I’m not carrying the responsibilities that Andy is carrying, but it was great.”

Lessons learned from the ‘Animal Farm’ screenplay

On the lessons learned from the “Animal Farm” screenplay, Turner reflected, “Well, first of all, I don’t think that Benjamin goes through the whole learning process that some of the others do because he doesn’t expect much to begin with, you know?”

“Benjamin is not thinking that the world is a wonderful place. Oh my goodness, look, it’s falling apart. No, instead, he starts off saying, ‘Show me, yeah, what have you got’?”

“For me, this just reinforced some of my habits. There you go. It also taught me that there is no formula,” she added.

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, now with streaming, technology and social media being so prevalent, Turner said, “Well, heaven forbid, the digital age has been around for quite a while.”

“Heavens, I’ve been doing this for 38 years at least… when I did Jessica Rabbit in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ that was 38 years ago, she recalled.

Closing thoughts on the movie ‘Animal Farm’

Turner stated, “I think it makes it more accessible for younger audiences, the introduction of some of the characters, the animals, and the animation.”

“It’s a story that keeps going around, boy… every 80 years since George Orwell wrote this, here we are again,” she elaborated.

“So, it needs to be told again,” she concluded.
