Husband of missing boater Lynette flees the Bahamas

The husband of missing Michigan mom Lynette Hooker left the Bahamas on Wednesday to reportedly deal with another family emergency – just one day after he assured his “sole focus” was finding his wife.

Brian Hooker, 58, caught a commercial flight out of the Caribbean country “because his mom is very ill,” his attorney Terrell Butler told NBC News.

Butler insisted that his client plans on returning to the Bahamas.

Brian was detained last Wednesday in connection with his wife’s disappearance. He was released on Monday after investigators failed to file charges against him.

His wife of 25 years reportedly fell overboard while she and Brian were taking a dinghy back to their yacht anchored in Elbow Cay.

Brian told investigators he lost sight of Lynette and had to paddle back to shore.

The search for Lynette has since shifted to a recovery mission.
