LEGO Brings Luxo Jr. to Life on Your Desk

Luxo Jr. has been bouncing around in the hearts of animation fans since the 1986 Pixar short, and LEGO has now given everyone a chance to own a version of that iconic lamp through a new Ideas set (#21357). The 613 piece build, priced at $55.95 (was $70), comes together at a satisfying pace for an adult set, with most of the time spent shaping the lamp’s articulated arm and weighted base.

Rubber bands hidden inside give the whole thing a springy, responsive feel that echoes the character’s playful on screen energy, and the shade tilts on a ball joint to create a surprisingly wide range of expressive poses. A rotating base adds even more ways to position it just right.

The striped ball from the short is included as a separate buildable piece, and placing the lamp over it immediately recreates one of the most recognizable moments in Pixar history.
