How Kontota grew from one grooming van to a national franchise

FRISCO, Texas. When Kontota rolled its first mobile grooming van onto the streets of the Dallas-Fort Worth area in March 2020, the idea behind it was simple. Dog grooming should be safer, easier, and less stressful for pets and the families who love them.
Today, that single van has grown into a fleet of approximately 21 corporate grooming vans across Dallas-Fort Worth and a franchise network that now reaches communities in multiple states. Along the way, Kontota has completed more than 140,000 grooming visits and earned thousands of five-star reviews from pet owners.
A different kind of grooming appointment
Founded in December 2019 and headquartered in Frisco, Texas, Kontota set out to fix a familiar frustration. Traditional grooming usually means loading a dog into the car, driving to a salon, leaving the pet for several hours, and coming back for pickup. For busy professionals, families with young children, and seniors, that routine can eat up most of a day. For many dogs, a loud salon full of other animals adds stress of its own.
Kontota brings the salon to the driveway instead. Each fully equipped mobile grooming van parks outside the customer’s home, where a single groomer works one-on-one with a single dog. There is no crate time, no long wait, and no trip across town. Pets spend less time away from their families, and owners get their afternoon back.
Safety at the center of the process
What sets Kontota apart, according to the company, is the structure behind every appointment. Kontota developed a 27-step grooming process designed to deliver consistent quality, safety, and customer satisfaction from one visit to the next. Its groomers receive specialized training, including pet CPR and safety training, so they are prepared to care for every dog responsibly.
“When we started Kontota with just one grooming van, our vision was simple: make dog grooming safer, easier, and more convenient for families,” said Hoss Belyadi, President and CEO of Kontota. “Today, seeing that vision grow into a brand serving communities across the country is incredibly rewarding. Our success comes from focusing on what matters most: the safety of the pets, the happiness of our customers, and the people who make it all possible.”
An American growth story
Kontota’s rise from a single van to a multi-state brand is as much a small-business story as a pet care story. Growth meant building operational systems, training programs, and customer experience standards that could be repeated across markets without losing the personal touch that made the first van successful.
Those systems now form the foundation of the Kontota franchise model. Entrepreneurs who join the brand enter the pet services industry with a structured playbook supported by operational training, marketing systems, and ongoing guidance from the corporate team. Today, Kontota is focused on expanding that footprint through franchising while continuing to invest in employee development, technology, and the customer experience.
Rewarding loyal customers
Kontota is also introducing new ways to reward the families who groom with it regularly. The Kontota Regulars Club recognizes customers who keep a consistent grooming schedule, reflecting the company’s belief that regular, routine care is better for pets and builds lasting relationships with the people who own them.
Looking ahead
As demand for convenient, professional pet care keeps growing, Kontota plans to bring its mobile grooming experience to more communities across the country, both through its corporate operations in Dallas-Fort Worth and through new franchise locations.
“We’re excited to continue bringing the Kontota experience to more families and communities across America,” Belyadi said.
