And that\u2019s a very big thing,\u201d Lillian Glass, a Florida-based body language expert who has served as an expert witness in federal and state courts on behavioral analysis, told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Trump and Xi enjoying talks at the Chinese President\u2019s residence Zhongnanhai <span class=\"credit\">POOL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Friday, Xi showed Trump his official residence, Zhongnanhai, where the two strongmen walked through a pristine garden before sitting inside an ornate pavilion for talks over tea.<\/p>\n<p>Glass said the way the leaders\u2019 toes were fixed toward each other signifies there\u2019s a \u201cconnection.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The toes \u201care very much a tell,\u201d she said, adding that if the leaders\u2019 feet were pointing away, it would symbolize tension.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at it logically, like let\u2019s say you don\u2019t like somebody, your instinct is to leave the room and to look for the exit, so your feet usually are pointed there \u2026 but this was not the case. It\u2019s all in the feet,\u201d Glass said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump gushed over Xi\u2019s hospitality and described the state visit as incredible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think a lot of, a lot of good has come of it,\u201d Trump told Xi at the garden.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Xi inviting Trump to take a seat.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p> \u201cHe\u2019s a man I respect greatly. Become really a friend,\u201d Trump said as he hailed his host.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve known each other now 11 years, almost 12 years. That\u2019s a long time, and we\u2019ve settled a lot of different problems that other people wouldn\u2019t have been able to settle, and the relationship is a very strong one. We\u2019ve really done some wonderful things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Glass noted how Trump and Xi felt comfortable in each other\u2019s company and they were \u201cmuch more relaxed than on the first day.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Trump and Xi pose for snaps for the world\u2019s media. <span class=\"credit\">POOL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere was a lot more stiffness, a lot more tension; they didn\u2019t know what to expect from one another,\u201d she said, speaking of day one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think spending days together and really having a great interaction made a difference. It\u2019s like two old buddies \u2026 [or a fit] like a comfortable shoe, so to speak.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Glass said Xi \u201chad a lot of protocol to attend to\u201d on the first day, where he showed off troops and Chinese dignitaries met their American counterparts \u2013 compared to their tour of Zhongnanhai.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Trump and Xi walking through the Zhongnanhai compound.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey could basically let their shoulders down here, which they did,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump is really relaxed, his shoulders are relaxed. Xi\u2019s leaning forward and that\u2019s now how we have seen him before. His shoulders are relaxed like Trump\u2019s \u2013 that\u2019s kind of unique.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really have seen Xi very stiff and very straight [before]. Bush was invited to the residence in 2002 by then-President Jiang Zemin.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and Xi enjoyed a lavish spread of kung pao chicken and scallops \u2013 while those outside the fancy event were served up bags of McDonald\u2019s, the commander in chief\u2019s trusty standby. Trump has since departed China.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and Xi spoke about the relatively thorny issue of the Iran war on Thursday, as well as economic cooperation and cracking down on Chinese export of fentanyl precursors to North America.<\/p>\n<p>The White House said Trump and Xi agreed the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and free from any militarization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Xi also made clear China\u2019s opposition to the militarization of the Strait and any effort to charge a toll for its use, and he expressed interest in purchasing more American oil to reduce China\u2019s dependence on the Strait in the future,\u201d the White House official added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth countries agreed that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Trump enjoys the hospitality on display.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There was no mention of Taiwan on the White House readout \u2013 and Trump was uncharacteristically silent when reporters peppered him with questions about the province while standing outside the 15th-century Temple of Heaven.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Xi stressed to President Trump that the Taiwan question is the most important issue in China-US relations,\u201d Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>If it is handled properly, the bilateral relationship will enjoy overall stability.
