That was not a display of kindness. It was selfishness,\u201d one commenter wrote.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Caracas handed the shirt to his young daughter after grabbing it at the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff\u2019s Rodeo. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/marcoandamelia<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cShowing his daughter how disrespectful he is to other women. Nice lesson,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have been disappointed in my dad to treat a lady like that,\u201d someone wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of viewers backed the father, arguing he was simply trying to make his daughter happy and that the shirt was fair game once it was thrown into the crowd.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, I see a man doing whatever to please his baby girl who cares what a stranger thinks,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople thinking the woman is entitled to a shirt being thrown into a crowd is wild,\u201d another commented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cU snooze u lose. That\u2019s how life works,\u201d a third said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIf that would have been a man standing next to me, would this have gone so wild?\u201d Caracas asked after the backlash.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Caracas later defended himself on Instagram, saying in a video: \u201cI went to the SLO County Sheriff Rodeo, caught a T-shirt that was thrown in the audience and I\u2019ve been called every name in the book since then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow my question is, if that would have been a man standing next to me, would this have gone so wild?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe T-shirt never touched her hands. Not sure where you saw a \u2018snatch\u2019 happen\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the problem with the internet, people make up their own truth. One of the funnest parts of the rodeo is the T-shirt toss. It\u2019s no different than a bouquet toss at a wedding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rodeo dust-up wasn\u2019t the only recent fan free-for-all to blow up online.
