The cop could also smell alcohol on her.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt was swaying and sat on her car\u2019s rear bumper to keep her balance, the officer said in their report.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt\u2019s Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test performance revealed some signs of impairment, but she allegedly refused to complete any more tests, according to the cop.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She claimed she didn\u2019t feel comfortable due to a previous left foot injury, KPRC reported, citing her arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe title=\"New documents reveal details about the Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt&#039;s latest DWI arrest\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tzW0BFSO7R0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Wyatt was booked into the Galveston County jail for DWI before being released \u2013 and her lawyer, Christopher Downey, strongly denies there was any criminality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking forward to obtaining the discovery in the case and investigating the basis for these charges,\u201d he told Houston Public Media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like any citizen, Dr. Wyatt should be accorded the presumption of innocence while these accusations remain unproven.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt was previously booked on a driving while intoxicated charge in 2023 and recorded a blood-alcohol concentration of .365% \u2013 more than four times the legal limit of .08, according to KPRC.<\/p>\n<p>That charge was dismissed in August last year after she completed a court program.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Carla Wyatt is pictured walking with attorney Christopher Downey ahead of a court hearing about her burglary charge. <span class=\"credit\">Houston Chronicle via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But she was accused of not installing an ignition interlock device on her car, according to her case report.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt was also arrested in December 2025 on a car burglary charge \u2013 which she was ultimately cleared over after a grand jury refused to indict.<\/p>\n<p>She was accused of breaking into another driver\u2019s car and rummaging through items inside.<\/p>\n<p>It was unusual for a grand jury to consider the charge as it was a misdemeanor offense, but her defense welcomed the move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoing so would help to remove any allegation that the charging decision \u2014 whether to proceed with a criminal prosecution or not \u2014 was politically motivated because it would have been reviewed by a panel of citizens and not just the DA\u2019s office,\u201d Downey told Houston Public Media.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wyatt, pictured speaking to Fox26, is running for re-election.  <span class=\"credit\">FOX 26 Houston<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It also emerged that Wyatt had received consultation for cerebrovascular disease and a mini-stroke.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt is seeking a second term as Harris County Treasurer and will face off against Republican candidate Marc Cowart in November.
