She has progressed faster than anyone anticipated, and we are incredibly grateful for the outstanding care she has received \u2014especially from the medical team at Methodist Hospital and the liver specialists at Methodist Transplant Hospital,\u201d Khang wrote.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHer liver remains stable, with some expected fluctuations, and her care team will continue to monitor her closely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the most meaningful milestones has been her ability to remember, recognize, and communicate with family and friends. Physically, she is gaining strength each day and making steady, encouraging progress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khang revealed his niece will be moved to Houston\u2019s TIRR Memorial Hermann hospital ahead of the next stage of her recovery.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Danh pictured wearing her hospital scrubs and holding up a pink stethoscope shaped into a heart. <span class=\"credit\">Danh family Handout<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply thankful for how far she has come and remain hopeful and optimistic about what lies ahead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On May 1, Khang said his niece had been taken off life support and was able to take a \u201cfew, small steps\u201d with assistance. But, he said her emotions and her memory come and go.<\/p>\n<p>Danh was flown back to San Antonio on a 20-hour flight, and her family learned that she had suffered a stroke resulting in \u201csevere bilateral brain damage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt that time, they warned that she might not wake up or regain normal function,\u201d her family said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Danh was in a coma after falling ill in Japan on her honeymoon. <span class=\"credit\">Khang Le \/ Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Danh fell ill just weeks after she tied the knot\u00a0with Luke Gradl, her partner of seven years, in Houston\u2019s Spring Branch neighborhood March 21 in what he described as their \u201cdream wedding\u201d \u2014 before jetting out to Tokyo on April 8.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we arrived at the hotel the afternoon of April 8, she was not feeling well. So, we decided to rest that day because we had 16 total days in Japan, so we could afford to rest half a day,\u201d aspiring pilot Gradl, 28, told People.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApril 9 things started to go bad very quickly, so I immediately took her to the hospital just before midnight where we were admitted to the emergency room, and the next day moved to the ICU because of life-threatening health decline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She fell ill despite no signs being present at their wedding, according to Gradl.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
