Rice for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhat makes it even more special is how much she reminds me of her father, Wenjian. Every time I look at her, I see a part of him still living on through her,\u201d the widow said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Liu, 32, and his partner Detective Rafael Ramos, 40, were murdered while on patrol on Dec. 20, 2014 by cop-hating career criminal Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, who gunned down the pair as they sat in a marked squad car in Bedford-Stuyvesant. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Brinsley \u2014 who was wanted in Baltimore for shooting his ex-girlfriend in the stomach earlier that day \u2014 then fatally shot himself in the head.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Liu and Chen, who met through mutual friends, had only been married for three months before he was killed. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wenjian Liu was killed on the job on Dec. 20, 2014.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Angelina was born about two and a half years after her father was killed. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For as long as they had been together \u2013 seven years \u2013 he always wanted children.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven before we were married, Wenjian always wanted to be a father,\u201d she said. \u201cI wanted to make sure his dream came true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I learned that my husband could not be saved, my very first thought was that I could not allow his dream to die with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Chen makes sure that Angelina knows all about her dad.  <span class=\"credit\">J.C. Rice for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She was already familiar with sperm retrieval and IVF procedures, Chen said, and immediately asked if Liu\u2019s sperm could be preserved.<\/p>\n<p>That night, she dreamt of Liu, showing her their newborn baby, she recalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a vivid dream. Wenjian was dressed completely in white and gently handed me a small bundle wrapped in a white blanket,\u201d Chen said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe looked at me and said, \u2018This is our daughter.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Angelina was born via artificial insemination. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dr. Peter Schlegel removed some of Liu\u2019s sperm at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner the following morning. After her dream, Chen was even more confident she made the right decision. <\/p>\n<p>Angelina \u2013 who shares her father\u2019s smile and warm personality \u2013 is who keeps Chen strong, especially during the holidays when she thinks of her husband the most.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery holiday there\u2019s sadness,\u201d she said while choking up at her Dyker Heights home. \u201cWenjian should be here with us.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Chen said that Angelina hopes to be a veterinarian when she grows up.  <span class=\"credit\">Paul Martinka<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>While holidays are always hard without Wenjian, Angelina softens the pain, Chen said.  <span class=\"credit\">J.C. Rice for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBut the pain is softened because I have Angelina,\u201d she continued, calling her daughter \u201cmy greatest treasure and the greatest gift God has given me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Catholic school third grader loves swimming, singing and playing the piano and clarinet. She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up \u2014 Chen knows Liu would be proud of the charismatic little girl.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While Angelina was robbed of ever getting to know her father, Chen makes sure to keep his memory alive and give her daughter the life she deserves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAngelina will always be my miracle baby, my living connection to Wenjian,\u201d said Chen, a stay at home mom. \u201cMy focus is on raising her and honoring my husband\u2019s memory and giving Angelina the happiest and most loving life possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am simply grateful every day for the blessing of having Angelina in my life.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
