Emmanuel Adebayor (Picture: talkSPORT)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Emmanuel Adebayor has called on Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres to add more \u2018technical ability\u2019 to his game after a mixed first season in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>Gyokeres has at times flattered to deceive since his \u00a364m move from Sporting last summer, scoring just five Premier League goals in the first-half of the season.<\/p>\n<p>But the Sweden international has improved his output since the new year, netting 14 goals in all competitions to help Arsenal lead the Premier League title race and reach the Champions League final.<\/p>\n<p>Gyokeres produced one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt in Tuesday\u2019s Champions League semi-final win over Atletico Madrid, with England legend Alan Shearer describing his display as \u2018exceptional\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mikel Arteta also singled out his summer signing for praise, calling him \u2018immense\u2019 after he bullied the Atletico defenders and played a part in Bukayo Saka\u2019s winning goal.<\/p>\n<p>Adebayor appreciates many of Gyokeres\u2019 attributes and insists he is \u2018getting better\u2019 as he looks to become Arsenal\u2019s long-term No. 9.<\/p>\n<p>But Adebayor, who scored 62 goals in 142 games for Arsenal, admits he wants Gyokeres to bring more \u2018technical ability\u2019 to his game, saying that would be a \u2018good advantage\u2019 to the team.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"594\" height=\"389\" Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018Listen, I think\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0a good player,\u2019 Adebayor said on talkSPORT. \u2018He\u2019s\u00a0a good striker and a big lad who can control the ball quite well.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The first time I saw him play live was the north London derby against Tottenham\u00a0and I\u00a0kind of liked\u00a0the way he played because\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0strong and ready to fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But I think playing as a striker and for a club like Arsenal you have to add a little bit of technical ability to your game.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018Overall\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0been good and he\u2019s\u00a0scored goals, but if he can work on his first touch and his\u00a0turning\u00a0that would\u00a0definitely be\u00a0a good advantage for the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But\u00a0overall\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0getting better and getting used to the Premier\u00a0League,\u00a0so he\u2019s\u00a0doing well.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Gyokeres helped Arteta\u2019s side reach their first Champions League final since 2006 just days after scoring a brace in an important 3-0 win over Fulham at \u2013 and Manchester City\u2019s thrilling 3-3 draw at Everton \u2013 means Arsenal are five points clear at the top of the Premier League heading into the final few weeks of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Adebayor, who played for both clubs, says he \u2018would like\u2019 Arsenal to become Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years but is backing Man City to close the gap.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If you ask me today, I will still tell you I think Man City will win it,\u2019 Adebayor added. \u2018But I would like\u00a0Arsenal\u00a0to win it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They were fighting for it even when I was there. This year, they\u2019re doing quite well. The good thing is defensively, they are very good. But now, they have to win the last three games to win the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Man City dropping points against Everton, they will come back stronger. They will manage with their manager, the excellent team they have, they will do everything possible to win the last three games and wait for Arsenal to drop points so they can be champions.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But trust me, it is not going to be an easy task for both of them.
