Manchester United v Liverpool - Premier League, United Kingdom - 03 May 2026\" decoding=\"sync\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Casemiro says there is \u2018no chance\u2019 of staying at Manchester United (NurPhoto\/Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Casemiro insists there is \u2018no chance\u2019 of extending his stay at Manchester United for another season as he wants to leave Old Trafford \u2018through the front door\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>United had the option to extend Casemiro\u2019s contract for another year but confirmed in January that the 34-year-old will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Casemiro has been one of United\u2019s standout performers this season and has been a key figure in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo during Michael Carrick\u2019s time at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Matheus Cunha added to the calls from United fans to extend Casemiro\u2019s stay at the club for at least another season.<\/p>\n<p>But the Brazil international has stressed the importance of leaving United \u2018on a high note\u2019 and says his \u2018cycle has ended here\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a chance, there\u2019s no chance,\u2019 Casemiro said in an interview with ESPN Brasil.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"594\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2273447324.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=594\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28151702\" alt=\"Manchester United v Brentford - Premier League\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Casemiro says he wants to leave Manchester United \u2018through the front door\u2019 (Visionhaus\/Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s leaving through the front door. It\u2019s been four beautiful, wonderful years, and I\u2019m eternally grateful not only to the club, but to the fans. I think if there\u2019s one thing I\u2019ll cherish most from these four years here, it\u2019s having the fans with me. But no, I think it\u2019s over. The cycle has ended here.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m moving on to a new chapter in my career. I still have to decide where I\u2019m going. But I think I have to leave on a high note, I have to leave on top. I will be a lifelong United supporter here in England and I can only thank all the fans for their affection.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018My priority is to talk to my family and see what they want. When I mentioned coming to Manchester United, they were the first to support me. My whole family was the first to support me, so even though they always say they\u2019ll follow me and that we\u2019ll be happy wherever I go, I need to talk to them,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I need to think things through with them, because decision-making is very important right now. I still have to analyse things. Thank God things are going very well and it\u2019s been a very good end to the season for me, a very good season for me. But I still need to talk to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In Spain, they have a saying: \u2018to leave through the front door.\u2019 And that\u2019s always been one of the coolest things I\u2019ve tried to convey through the clubs I\u2019ve played for. It\u2019s been really great, really exciting. With each game that gets closer, it gives you that pang in your heart, that emotion. But it\u2019s been beautiful. All the games, the training sessions too, the day-to-day. I think it\u2019s been a really beautiful story, especially this ending.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018[Creating a connection with the fans] is one of the goals when you arrive at such a big club. Of course, in the end, you imagine one thing and things just happen. But this departure has been almost too perfect.
