Osman was reportedly booked into jail the night of the assault and then released back onto the streets before a bail hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTurning on more cameras won\u2019t magically make our neighborhoods safer, but it will certainly make our neighborhoods more vulnerable,\u201d Wilson said in 2025 after Seattle City Council\u2019s approval of expanding the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) CCTV pilot program, the program used to capture the video of this specific crime, according to KOMO News.<\/p>\n<p>Conservatives on social media quickly pointed to Wilson\u2019s policies, which have been much maligned as \u201csoft on crime,\u201d as a contributing factor, as well as her previous comments on CCTV.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Ahmed Abdullahi Osman, 29, was later arrested and charged with second-degree assault. <span class=\"credit\">FOX News<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey elected a SOCIALIST,\u201d Heritage Foundation senior fellow Mike Gonzalez posted on X. \u201cWhat did they think would happen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeattle Mayor Katie Wilson remains clueless on the job,\u201d journalist Jonathan Choe posted on X. \u201cSo she\u2019s allowing far-left activists to make public safety decisions for the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGo ahead and explain the \u2018sOCiONoMic rOoT cAusES\u2019 of this heinous crime,\u201d Manhattan Institute fellow Rafael A. Mangual posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAhmed Abdullah Osman beat a 77-year-old in Seattle,\u201d conservative influencer account End Wokeness posted on X in a clip that has been viewed over a million times. \u201cPolice ID\u2019d him thanks to street video cameras.
