And we said, we\u2019ll take the DNA, and again, it\u2019s a state and local matter, so it\u2019s their call on where to send the DNA. We have Quantico \u2014 the best lab in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patel said a plane was ready to rush the evidence to the military hub in Virginia, but Nanos opted to ship it to a private lab in Florida instead.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Hannity called the decision a \u201cbad call.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has come under fire for his handling of the investigation into the disappearance of Guthrie. <span class=\"credit\">Rebecca Noble for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe would have analyzed it within days and maybe gotten better information or more information,\u201d the FBI honcho said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur labs are just better than any other private lab out there and we didn\u2019t get a chance to do that. So, I understand everybody\u2019s frustrations on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patel stressed that the first 48 hours are \u201cmost critical\u201d in any missing person case, claiming that once the FBI was finally let in, they contacted Google and recovered eerie doorbell camera footage showing a masked man lurking outside Guthrie\u2019s doorstep on the night police believe she was taken.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Nanos has come under fire for his handling of the investigation into the disappearance of Guthrie. <span class=\"credit\">FBI via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He said the data \u2013 or more \u2013 could have been uncovered \u201cdays before\u201d the bombshell break in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department denied Patel\u2019s claim, telling The Post in a statement Nanos began working with the FBI \u201cwithout delay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSheriff Nanos responded to the scene the night of the incident, providing immediate local leadership and oversight,\u201d the statement said, adding that \u201cA member of the FBI Task Force was also notified and present at that scene working alongside our personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials said decisions regarding evidence were made on scene based on \u201coperational needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe laboratory utilized by the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department and the FBI Laboratory in Quantico have worked in close partnership from the outset and continue to collaborate in the analysis of evidence,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Police have still not identified any suspects in the 93 days since Nancy Guthrie vanished. <span class=\"credit\">Facebook\/Savanah Guthrie<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe remain committed to a thorough, coordinated, and fact-based investigation and will continue working closely with our federal partners as the process moves forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nanos has come under fire for his handling of the investigation into the disappearance of Guthrie \u2013 mother of \u201cToday\u201d host Savannah Guthrie \u2013 who is believed to have been taken from her Catalina Foothills home in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.<\/p>\n<p>He has been criticized for clearing Guthrie\u2019s home as a crime scene too quickly, leaning on a private DNA firm instead of the FBI, and failing to deploy key resources like a search plane or cadaver dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Nanos sat down in April for an interview in which he defended his handling of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>However, police have still not identified any suspects in the 93 days since she vanished.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
