Nancy Mace this week.<\/p>\n<p>The figure is higher than previously known, but a much lower portion of the $18 million total paid out in response to workplace complaints on Capitol Hill than had been rumored.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Mace (R-SC) confirmed the names of four former legislators whose offices made payments: Reps. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Eric Massa (D-NY), John Conyers (D-Mich.), and Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.)<\/p>\n<p>All four were previously known to have faced sexual misconduct accusations.<\/p>\n<p>Farenthold\u2019s office paid out $84,000 in 2014, Massa\u2019s paid out $115,000 over multiple occasions in 2010, Conyers\u2019 office paid out $50,000 in 2010 in addition to a $27,111.75 severance payment in 2017, and Meehan\u2019s office spent $39,250 in 2017.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rep. Nancy Mace has publicly alleged that she is a victim of rape and sexual assault.  <span class=\"credit\">Jim Bourg<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Patrick Meehan allegedly grew hostile towards a female staffer that rejected his sexual advances. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All four were also included on the House Ethics Committee\u2019s list,\u00a0released last month, of all 28 publicly disclosed sexual misconduct probes of members dating back to 1976.<\/p>\n<p>Two offices on Mace\u2019s list were not previously known to have made payments: Former Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.), who paid out $15,000; and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), who reached an $8,000 settlement.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander has since claimed the payout was related to behavior by a former staffer who was fired after the former rep learned about the allegation. McCarthy died last year.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2018, at the height of the \u201c#MeToo\u201d movement, Congress passed a law banning the federal government from footing the bill for lawmakers\u2019 sexual harassment cases, ending the practice of taxpayer-funded settlements.<\/p>\n<p>Mace obtained the names after the powerful House Oversight Committee subpoenaed the information earlier this year.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>John Conyers, who died in 2019, faced sexual harassment accusations from a former staffer. He ultimately resigned in 2017. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOne thousand pages,\u201d Mace posted on X with a binder full of information. \u201cAll records prior to 2004 were destroyed \u2013 which tells you everything you need to know about how long this has been buried.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will release the full 1,000 pages \u2013 once we confirm that personally identifiable information of victims and witnesses has been properly redacted,\u201d she added. \u201cAccountability is not a threat. It is a promise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mace\u2019s colleague, Rep.
