As the pigs consolidate control, truth is erased, dissent is crushed, and the farm descends into a ruthless dictatorship\u2014fulfilling Orwell\u2019s warning about the dangers of communism.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Andy Serkis, the voice cast of actors stars Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, Laverne Cox and Iman Vellani.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Animal Farm | Andy Serkis | Official Trailer | In Theaters Now | Angel\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g8wLmj9SiKM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Andy Serkis\u2019 new \u201ccautionary tale\u201d is an ambitious and witty adaptation that mostly succeeds in bringing George Orwell\u2019s classic allegory to life for a younger audience. <\/p>\n<p>Serkis leans into his strengths with motion-capture technology, so the diverse animals feel expressive and emotionally grounded in a way that adds depth to the original George Orwell story. <\/p>\n<p>Glenn Close playing the role of the Freida Pilkington, the wealthy villainess who wants to take over the farm, is a neat twist (especially since her name is a combination of Mr. Frederick and Mr. Pilkington from the book).<\/p>\n<p>This animation is polished, and certain scenes\u2014especially those depicting the gradual shift in power\u2014are genuinely unflinching and unsettling.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitaljournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Photo-Courtesy-of-Angel-Studios.jpg\" alt=\"Still from 'Animal Farm'\" class=\"wp-image-3845176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.digitaljournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Photo-Courtesy-of-Angel-Studios.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.digitaljournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Photo-Courtesy-of-Angel-Studios-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Still from \u2018Animal Farm.\u2019 Photo Courtesy of Angel Studios.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Where the film shines most is in its tone. This new adaptation of \u201cAnimal Farm\u201d garners four out of five stars.
