Jamaican national Jacenth Beadle Exum, 70, of Bergen County; Israeli national Idan Choresh, 43, of Monmouth County; and Indian national Abhinandan Vig, 33, of Monmouth County were charged in four separate criminal complaints filed by the New Jersey US Attorney\u2019s Office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each of the defendants cast ballots in at least one federal election after falsely attesting that they were US citizens on voter registration forms, according to the complaints.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche speaks at a press conference in Washington, DC, on April 28, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The four were charged after an investigation conducted by the\u00a0District of New Jersey\u2019s Election Integrity Task Force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs alleged, the defendants broke federal law by voting in elections they were not eligible to participate in, and then made false statements under oath to conceal that conduct,\u201d New Jersey US Attorney Robert Frazer said in a statement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s charges reflect this Office\u2019s commitment to protecting the integrity of our election system, and ensuring that those who attempt to circumvent both our voting laws and our naturalization process are held accountable,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Neewilly voted in the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections, Beadle Exum and Vig voted in the 2020 election and Choresh voted in the 2022 midterm election, according to prosecutors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ alleges that after illegally voting in federal elections, the defendants each submitted naturalization paperwork \u2013 in an effort to become US citizens \u2013 swearing \u201cunder penalty of perjury\u201d that they had never registered, or voted, in any federal elections, which prosecutors claimed was false.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A \u201cvote here\u201d sign is displayed outside a voting location in Hawthorne, NJ, on Oct. 31, 2025.  <span class=\"credit\">Christopher Sadowski<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Each of the defendants cast ballots in at least one federal election after falsely attesting that they were US citizens on voter registration forms, according to the complaints.\u00a0 <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis administration will not tolerate aliens who attempt to vote in our elections when they know they are not eligible,\u201d acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement. \u201cAs alleged, these green card holders lied in order to register to vote and then lied again to immigration authorities by falsely claiming never to have voted in a federal election.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Justice Department will use every authority to protect the integrity of US elections, including by prosecuting any noncitizens who lie about their legal status in an attempt to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today out of <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBINewark?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FBINewark<\/a>: Four individuals have been charged with illegally voting in federal elections and making false statements applying for U.S. citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>The individuals \u2013 all noncitizens \u2013 voted in elections including the 2020 Presidential election, 2022 midterms, and\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FBI Director Kash Patel (@FBIDirectorKash) <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBIDirectorKash\/status\/2050317081577394629?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 1, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Neewilly was charged with voting by an alien in a federal election and making false statements in relation to naturalization. He faces a maximum of 11 years in prison if convicted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Choresh was charged with voting by an alien in a federal election, making false statements in relation to naturalization and procurement of citizenship or naturalization unlawfully.
