Matheus has done a little bit of work, so we\u2019re hopeful. We\u2019re not sure but we\u2019re hopeful.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>On Shaw, he added: \u2018With Luke [Shaw], we aren\u2019t sure if he will be ready but we are hopeful.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined with his long-standing back issue, while Patrick Dorgu could be in line to feature after returning to the matchday squad against Brentford for the first time since January.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Friday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed that his side will be without Mohamed Salah, but will make a late call on goalkeeper Alisson.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"594\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/GettyImages-2273541482.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=594\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28196945\" alt=\"Manchester United v Brentford - Premier League\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Luke Shaw has started every Premier League match so far this season (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Since arriving as interim head coach, Carrick has reeled off wins against Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, and can now secure United\u2019s spot in next season\u2019s Champions League with another big scalp on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s certainly always been one of my favourite games, without a doubt. It is a standout game,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018There are obviously big games and rivalries that we have with other teams, but this one is certainly right up there because of the history, the ups and downs this match-up has produced in the past, the entertainment and the emotion. All of those things make it a really special game.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When I think about this game, the first thing that comes to mind is that air of competition really, irrespective of league positions over the years. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Things like that have never changed the emotion of the players and the supporters.
