They\u2019ll be using the same landing pads that will eventually handle paying passengers, and the aircraft is fully prepared for it. On the outside, it appears to be a fairly typical plane, but on the inside, there is a pilot and space for four people and their luggage. It has six tilting propellers that spin up for vertical takeoff before swiveling around for efficient cruise flight at speeds of up to 200 mph. The engineers installed many backup systems to ensure that even if a few motors fail, the airplane can continue to fly. What truly stands out while it\u2019s airborne is how silent the rotors are, since they\u2019re far quieter than a helicopter of similar size and can be easily lost in the city noise. The air taxi travels the same distance as a car from Midtown to JFK in around 7 minutes, saving you approximately an hour and up to $50. During the test, pilots follow the shoreline via Coney Island and over the harbor and Hudson River.
