The brewery\u2019s social media lamented Saturday night\u2019s foiled attack at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, we almost got #freebeerday,\u201d the company\u2019s post read, although Fox News could not immediately identify the poster\u2019s tie to the owner. \u201cEither a brother or sister in the Resistance needs to work on their marksmanship or he faked another assassination to get a positive news cycle. We\u2019ll never know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless, we stand at the ready to pour free beer the day it happens,\u201d the post concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Bangstad was the Democrat nominee for\u00a0Wisconsin\u2019s 34th Assembly District\u00a0in 2020, according to Ballotpedia, but lost the general election.<\/p>\n<p>Minocqua Brewing sells politically themed merchandise, including shirts saying, \u201cI wish it was free beer day,\u201d and pitches its progressive brand that pairs beer with activism and \u201csnarky progressive merch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News Digital previously reported on the\u00a0brewery\u2019s \u201cfree beer day\u201d vow. In January, Fox News highlighted a Minocqua Brewing message offering \u201cfree beer, all day long, the day he dies,\u201d and noted Bangstad\u2019s comment that he would welcome people to celebrate Trump\u2019s \u201cimpending death\u201d with one caveat: \u201cno red hats allowed.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wisconsin\u2019s Minocqua Brewing Co. drew fire for a post about \u201cfree beer\u201d after the shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner. <span class=\"credit\">Google Maps<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>President Donald Trump is escorted out during the annual White House Correspondents\u2019 Association dinner. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fox News also identified Bangstad as the founder of the Minocqua Brewing Company super PAC, which targets Trump and Republicans. Also, Bangstad once\u00a0sued to keep Trump off\u00a0the Wisconsin ballots before the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>The fresh backlash followed Saturday night\u2019s security scare at the WHCA dinner in Washington, where Trump and first lady\u00a0Melania Trump\u00a0were evacuated after shots were fired outside the ballroom.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News reached out Sunday to Bangstad, the brewery and the Wisconsin\u00a0Democratic Party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a January statement to Fox News, Bangstad welcomed the celebration of the \u201cimpending death\u201d of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Bangstad and Minocqua Brewing have drawn repeated scrutiny beyond their anti-Trump messaging. Wisconsin Public Radio reported Bangstad was charged last year in a harassment case tied to a dispute with a local newspaper publisher, and Wisconsin newspaper reporting said he later entered a no-contest plea in a disorderly conduct case and was\u00a0found guilty earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Trump-backed House candidate Michael Alfonso called out the normalization of Bangstad\u2019s rhetoric in the state.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wisconsin\u2019s Minocqua Brewing Co. drew fire for a post about \u201cfree beer\u201d after a WHCD scare. <span class=\"credit\">Minocqua Brewing Company\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Fox News previously reported the brewery\u2019s \u201cfree beer day\u201d vow, offering beer upon Trump\u2019s death. <span class=\"credit\">Minocqua Brewing Company\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis brewery is owned by a man named Kirk Bangstad, and he\u2019s not just some random crazy guy,\u201d Alfonso posted on X. \u201cKirk is friends with current Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner Francesca Hong. He previously employed Rebecca Cooke, the Democrat currently running against Derrick Van Orden, and was himself the Democratic nominee against my father-in-law, Sean Duffy, in Wisconsin\u2019s 7th Congressional District\u2014where I am now running for office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Republicans and the Republican National Committee are calling out the ties to Bangstad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWisconsin Democrats\u00a0are so sick in the head that an attempted murder is funny to them,\u201d RNC spokeswoman Delanie Bomar told Fox News Digital on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll Wisconsin Democrats, including Rebecca Cooke, must immediately condemn this disgusting behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amid the criticism, both Cooke and Hong\u2019s campaign responded to Fox News\u2019 request for comments, but did so without mentioning ties to Bangstad by name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis rhetoric is dangerous and unacceptable \u2013 showcasing just how broken our political system is,\u201d Cooke told Fox News via email from her campaign manager. \u201cI denounce all forms of political violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to bring the temperature down, stop pitting working folks against each other, and come together to solve the very serious problems facing our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, the National Republican Congressional Committee called on Cooke to call out her former employer \u201cby name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRebecca Cooke needs to stop hiding and immediately denounce her former employer, Kirk Bangstad\u2019s dangerous and unhinged comments,\u201d NRCC spokesman Zach Bannon told Fox News in a statement Sunday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>President Donald Trump speaks next to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin at a press briefing. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Suspect Cole Allen detained in the lobby of the Hilton where the White House Correspondents\u2019 dinner was held. <span class=\"credit\">truthsocial\/realDonaldTrump<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cCooke\u2019s previous employment by Bangstad makes her silence even more unacceptable. Voters deserve to know whether she stands with Wisconsinites who reject this rhetoric or with the same extremist voices pushing it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Cooke wants to be taken seriously, she should condemn Bangstad by name, and do it now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hong also\u00a0posted a lengthy response\u00a0in multiple X posts after being reached by Fox News on Sunday, but also do not mention Bangstad by name.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about comments specifically mentioning the brewery or its owner, Becky Cooper, Hong\u2019s campaign manager pointed back to the X posts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat would fall under the \u2018becoming numb\u2019 portion,\u201d Cooper wrote to Fox News via email. \u201c[Minocqua Brewing Company\u2019s] tweet is intentionally inflammatory and a symptom of the normalization of political violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News also reached out to Cooke\u2019s campaign for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
