The group refused to include it in its latest version in 2025.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Some of the DSA\u2019s laptop class include members like Ahmed Husain, an engineer from Bahrain living in the Big Apple who recently called for \u201cending the US empire;\u201d Leemah Nasrati, an immigration attorney who\u2019s been hosting anti-ICE trainings; and Hanna Johnson, a DSA leader who doubles as State Assemblymember Emily Gallagher\u2019s deputy chief of staff.<\/p>\n<p>And the DSA\u2019s poster boy, Mayor Zohran Mamdani \u2013 the son of Disney filmmaker Mira Nair \u2013 comes from a family whose vast wealth includes a lush compound in Uganda that boasts its own housekeeper, gardeners and security. <\/p>\n<p>His mother\u2019s cult film \u201cMississippi Masala,\u201d with actor Denzel Washington, was filmed at the property.<\/p>\n<p>The DSA regularly talks about Karl Marx\u2019s theory of class struggle and has made \u201ctaxing the rich\u201d a big legislative priority this session. Its latest merch even bears the slogan \u201cdecompose the rich.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>DSA member Leemah Nasrati is an immigration attorney who\u2019s been hosting anti-ICE trainings for the group. <span class=\"credit\">leemahperu\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But the numbers shed light on the group\u2019s staggering hypocrisy, critics said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to give them credit for convincing people who are 180 degrees different from them that these trust fund socialists are speaking up for their best interests,\u201d quipped Former City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know\u00a0the\u00a0working\u00a0class,\u00a0but\u00a0they\u00a0have\u00a0read\u00a0a\u00a0lot\u00a0of\u00a0books\u00a0on\u00a0them.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption> Hanna Johnson is a DSA leader who doubles as State Assemblymember Emily Gallagher\u2019s deputy chief of staff. <span class=\"credit\">Hanna Johnson\/ Linkedin<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Few followed \u201cSquad\u201d Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s (D-NY) lead and worked in a bar \u2013 with only 6% of members in the service or retail industry. <\/p>\n<p>Even the self-described \u201cBronx girl,\u201d a DSA member herself, is regularly mocked for trying to make her short stint as a bartender such a big part of her public image when she had a comfortable upbringing in Westchester.<\/p>\n<p>An even smaller number of members \u2013 4% had blue collar jobs, and another 4% were writers, performers or in the arts \u2013 like National Political Committee member and mime David Jenkins.<\/p>\n<p>Another 5% were self-employed, 8% were students and 15% were unemployed or retired.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cTax the rich\u201d has been one of the DSA\u2019s key campaigns this year. <span class=\"credit\">Michael Nagle<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The socialist organization, which reached 100,000 members in February, saw a massive demographic shift in the mid-2010s, with younger members, galvanized by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders\u2019 presidential run, joining what had previously been an organization made up mostly of aging hippies and retirees.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, the median age was 68. By 2021, it dropped to 33, with the majority of members, 73%, Millennials or Gen Zs.<\/p>\n<p>As a sign of their financial comfort, 54% of members had either dished out personal funds on the DSA or bought merchandise, the survey reported.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The DSA has changed a lot in the past 15 years, attracting younger and wealthier members. <span class=\"credit\">Jack Forbes \/ NY Post Design<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And despite its frenzied push for equity, black membership was at a measly 4% \u2014 well below the group\u2019s 15% share of the American population.<\/p>\n<p>One area where the DSA had representation that far exceeded that of the general population: 10% of DSA members identified as non-binary and a staggering 32% identified as LGBTQIA+.<\/p>\n<p>The DSA did not return The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
