Gavin Newsom who serves on the board of directors for the High-Speed Rail Authority.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><figcaption>Images of Eric Swalwell partying have done little to dispel allegations of inappropriate behavior.  <span class=\"credit\">Nik Richie\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Campaign finance records show Swalwell \u2014 who has denied allegations of criminal behavior that first went public April 10 \u2014 received $39,200 checks on April 13 from California Dairies Inc., Greater Anesthesia Service and PAC, UFCW Western States Council and real estate developer Jeff Worthe, who was appointed last year to the board for Newsom\u2019s non-existent high speed train.<\/p>\n<p>Also on April 13, Sutter East Bay Medical Group gave $30,000 while DLA Piper\u2019s PAC gave $5,000. San Francisco arts philanthropist Kay Kimpton dropped in $5,000 on April 10, the same day allegations broke.<\/p>\n<p>The shameless pol\u2019s cash grab included a text blast sent at 11 a.m. on April 10 \u2014 just hours before the San Francisco Chronicle published horrifying allegations that he sexually assaulted a former staffer while she was too intoxicated to consent.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"\/>\n<p>The campaign was already aware of the allegations, per reports. (CNN would report more allegations from several women later in the day.)<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell claimed in the text that \u201cMAGA allies\u201d were trying to \u201cend my political future because they know I\u2019m the only one who can take down this corrupt administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Kash Patel tries to get revenge on me for going after Trump, I\u2019m fighting for the same things I always have: truth, accountability and justice,\u201d Swalwell wrote in the desperate text.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cUnlike them, I have nothing to hide.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Stephen Cloobeck\u2019s palatial estate in Beverly Hills served as a frequent place to crash for Eric Swalwell. <span class=\"credit\">CA Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Cloobeck said he kicked Swalwell out of his mansion after sexual assault allegations became public. <span class=\"credit\">David Buchan for California Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Swalwell ended up hiding out that same night in the palatial Beverly Hills mansion of billionaire benefactor Stephen Cloobeck, who would end up kicking out the shamed politician.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was with my counsel, and we had a chat with him. I just told him: \u2018You busted the trust,\u2019\u201d Cloobeck told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>He added that he said to Swalwell: \u201cI\u2019m shocked, I\u2019m disturbed and get the f\u2014k out of here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell\u2019s movements have been a mystery in the days since the scandal broke, as his congressional and campaign staffers turned their backs on him en masse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, his wife and children were recently spotted vacationing in the hyper-exclusive El Dorado Beach Club \u2014 a members-only club where Swalwell\u2019s estranged billionaire backer Cloobeck has a $45 million villa.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Eric Swalwell\u2019s family went to Mexico after women made a series of allegations against the ex-congressman.  <span class=\"credit\">BACKGRID for California Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Campaign records show Eric Swalwell quickly pulled back on travel in the immediate aftermath of the April 10 allegations, canceling flights and recouping at least $4,643.07 in refunds over three days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The campaign received more than $2,000 back from Delta Air Lines on April 10, followed by multiple reimbursements totaling $2,560 from United Airlines and $246.47 from Expedia on April 13 \u2014 all listed as payments for \u201cservices not provided.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Juanita Kizor, an Orinda resident who gave $500 to Swalwell\u2019s campaign just hours before the scandal broke, told The Post she has been a supporter in recent years but is now frustrated after writing a letter to the campaign asking for her money to be returned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s quite disappointing, because he did such a great job on the [Trump] impeachment hearings,\u201d Kizor said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he\u2019s talented and had a bright future, and it\u2019s gotta be devastating for his family and him \u2014 but there\u2019s no going back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did not act with integrity at all.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A shellshocked Kathy Griffin \u2014 one of many Hollywood donors who showered Swalwell with cash \u2014 said  on her podcast she clawed back her $10,000 donation to his campaign and donated it to a progressive media organization. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud I was able to get the donation back from Swalwell-world,\u201d the comedienne shared on her podcast, \u201cTalk Your Head off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell processed $53,685 in refunds to donors in the first three and a half months of 2026 while bringing in more than $5.5 million, according to campaign records.<\/p>\n<div class=\"single__inline-module inline-module inline-module--newsletter aligncenter inline-module--nypostbusinessunit aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-newsletter\" data-source-unit=\"Inline Newsletter Module Cali - Morning Report\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__inner\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__title-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__unsubmitted-title-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for the California Morning Report newsletter\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCalifornia&#8217;s top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Swalwell is now the focus of criminal investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice and district attorneys in Los Angeles and Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell could soon be drowning in legal problems, Paul Kamenar, an attorney with the National Legal and Policy Center, told The Post in an interview this month.<\/p>\n<p>Civil lawsuits could follow the criminal probes into Swalwell\u2019s alleged misdeeds, Kamenar explained. Campaign records showed a $40,000 payout to pitbull attorney Sara Azari, who defended Swalwell on television after the sexual abuse reports surfaced.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sara Azari has already been paid $40,000 for defending Eric Swalwell over accusations of rape and sexual assault.  <span class=\"credit\">Threads\/@azarilaw<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Department of Justice is also investigating Swalwell as scrutiny grows over his use of campaign funds for partying, childcare and hotel rooms \u2014 where at least one sexual assault was alleged to have occurred.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s not out of the woods by any means,\u201d Kamenar said.<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell did not respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
