It marks the club\u2019s worst run of results since 1912.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea\u2019s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season are fading fast and they could find themselves in the bottom half of the table by the end of the week should results elsewhere go against them.<\/p>\n<p>Rosenior has defended his squad throughout a rotten run of results but finally took aim at the group after the \u2018indefensible\u2019 performance against the Seagulls, insisting only \u2018three or four\u2019 of his players gave everything.<\/p>\n<p>Brighton players ran seven kilometres more than their opponents on Tuesday \u2013 the latest in a woeful trend with Chelsea sat 20<sup>th<\/sup> for distance covered per game in the Premier League this season, almost 10k short of leaders Manchester City.<\/p>\n<p>Despite those stats and Rosenior\u2019s damning comments, Chalobah saw no issues with the effort levels from his teammates.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if Tuesday\u2019s defeat was down to the gameplan or its execution, Chalobah told Sky Sports: \u2018We tried our best, we worked on it throughout the week but we got beat today and we have to go again.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"594\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2271855761_457e89.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=594\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28076491\" alt=\"FBL-ENG-PR-BRIGHTON-CHELSEA\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Rosenior blasted his teammates after the woeful result (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Brighton repeatedly beating Chelsea to the punch, he continued: \u2018I personally think the boys were running their socks off.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If you look in the dressing room, everyone is tired. It\u2019s nothing to do with effort. We gave it our all. We got beat today.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Pushed on stats showing Brighton outran them, Chalobah said: \u2018We ran today. The stats are stats. Marc Cucurella avoided similar punishment after commenting Rosenior\u2019s predecessor Enzo Maresca should not have left the club.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Chelsea boss insists however his relationship with the squad remains intact. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t feel there\u2019s a disconnect between me and the players. We work very closely with them in training, individual meetings, team meetings. We are giving everything to the players.
