Wisconsin lab worker allegedly confessed to using ChatGPT to help plot the poisoning of his rival colleague over a longstanding grudge, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Makoto Kuroda, a 41-year-old staff scientist at the university\u2019s Influenza Research Institute in the School of Veterinary Medicine in Madison, was charged with recklessly endangering safety and tampering with a household Sheriff<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>University police officers arrived at the lab on April 6 after receiving a report of possible chemicals discovered in an employee\u2019s water bottle, the criminal complaint detailed. <\/p>\n<p>That employee, identified in court documents by the initials TM, grew suspicious after taking a sip from a Trader Joe\u2019s water bottle and spitting it out when he noticed \u201ca strange taste,\u201d the complaint said. <\/p>\n<p>Two days later, he \u201cobserved this strange odor from his shoes\u201d and believed it to be chloroform, court documents added. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Subsequent testing of TM\u2019s water bottle revealed the water bottle had tested positive for Chloroform. The sample value was \u201cso high\u201d that the \u201ctest strips were not able to report an accurate value,\u201d the complaint alleged.<\/p>\n<p>Cops were called back to the research facility after Kuroda then went up to TM and admitted to the poisoning plot, authorities alleged. <\/p>\n<p>Kuroda reportedly went up to TM and chillingly said, \u201cI did it\u201d before commenting on his shoes. The confession \u201cscared\u201d TM and caused him to flee into a co-worker\u2019s office to report the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTM and the defendant were good friends, but is unsure how they drifted away and stopped<br \/>being friends,\u201d the complaint read. <\/p>\n<p>The aggrieved scientist also sent an email to a professor in Japanese, his native language, which read, \u201cI did it. I have also informed the person himself. I am very sorry. Makoto Kuroda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kuroda then allegedly told police that he had developed a longstanding grudge against TM over his behavior at work, including not following the \u201clab rule of wearing But TM was promoted again, and Kuroda was not, he explained. <\/p>\n<p>The alleged jealous lab worker grew resentful after feeling that TM \u201cstarted treating subordinates as less than,\u201d following his promotion, documents detailed. <\/p>\n<p>Kuroda allegedly explained to police that he saw TM\u2019s half-full bottle of water on April 5 and went to the lab to retrieve \u201c2 or 3 microliters of PFA mixed with Trizol\u201d from his work fridge. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defendant placed about .5 microliters of the mix in TM\u2019s water bottle,\u201d the document added. \u201cThe defendant then placed about 1.5 microliter of the mix into each of TM\u2019s shoes he keeps at work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also employed ChatGPT on his work laptop to calculate the dosage for the poisoning plot.
