She believes stress from the death of both his parents, as well as selling his home, also contributed to his \u201cworsening\u201d symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast summer his symptoms started, after a flare up likely induced by mold (CIRS) and stress. It was complicated by pneumonia and associated sepsis a month later. It was complicated by pneumonia\u2026 <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wPjAz4XsLT\">pic.twitter.com\/wPjAz4XsLT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mikhaila Peterson (@MikhailaFuller) <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikhailaFuller\/status\/2045610485190660458?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Mikhaila also said her father\u2019s akathisia has been severe, and claimed that such neurological injuries are \u201cfar more common than people know\u201d and are frequently misdiagnosed.<\/p>\n<p>Akathisia is a condition which can cause restlessness, mental distress and an inability to sit still.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAkathisia is the worst thing I\u2019ve ever seen anyone go through \u2026 it\u2019s catastrophic,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jordan Peterson (right) with his daughter, Mikhaila Peterson (2nd left), Tammy Peterson (2nd right), and Jordan Fuller (left). <span class=\"credit\">@MikhailaFuller\/X<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mikhaila noted that she won\u2019t be posting on social media until her father\u2019s situation improves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t plan on making another update about my dad, it stresses my family out, and myself, and there\u2019s nothing more to say about it until things get better,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be jumping up and down about psych med injury awareness from now on as it\u2019s impacted my health as well, and is devastating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrayers are appreciated still.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Mikhaila said she won\u2019t post on social media until her father\u2019s situation improves. <span class=\"credit\">Mikhaila Peterson\/X<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In August, Mikhaila announced her father\u2019s CIRS diagnosis in a social media post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was diagnosed with CIRS (chronic inflammatory response syndrome) due to a genetic predisposition that causes the immune system to have an inability to identify and detoxify mold\/bacteria in indoor air (the genetic predisposition is not that rare, it\u2019s in about 25 per cent of people but he has a severe version),\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, she noted he was \u201cfeeling the impact of CIRS more and more\u201d over the last 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecently he was exposed to a particularly moldy environment while helping clean out my grandfather\u2019s house after he passed away which severely flared symptoms,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be crystal clear \u2014 this isn\u2019t about akathisia or medication. He\u2019s not on any medication. It\u2019s an immune system dysfunction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peterson and his daughter have previously raised eyebrows for their promotion of the\u00a0carnivore diet, dining exclusively on beef with salt and soda water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like the medical system didn\u2019t recognise ketogenic diets as a treatment for mental disorders 10 years ago (and still most doctors don\u2019t),\u201d Mikhaila said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like psych med withdrawal wasn\u2019t recognised five years ago (and still more doctors don\u2019t recognise it). This indoor air quality problem that causes Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome will be commonly diagnosed in the next five to 10 years. I am positive about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peterson, who began his career at Harvard University before returning to Canada, shot to global fame in late 2016 after posting a series of videos criticizing a proposed Canadian law, Bill C-16 \u2014 which made it illegal to refuse to refer to a transgender person by their preferred \u201cgender pronoun\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>His YouTube lectures and appearances on popular podcasts like\u00a0\u201cThe Joe Rogan Experience\u201d<em>\u00a0<\/em>drew huge audiences, while he also published the self-help book,\u00a0\u201c12 Rules for Life,\u201d in 2018 before embarking on a global tour.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
