So that one there was a special piece.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that many of his neighbors support the display, according to KSNV News 3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow are they going to tell the guy with over 30 years in the fire service, you got to get rid of your fire hydrants? I mean, it\u2019s not like it\u2019s clutter,\u201d Saba said. \u201cIt\u2019s not like it\u2019s defacing anything. \u2026 My neighbors all even think it looks good.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Brent Saba points at a fire hydrant brought home from his deployment in Iraq and put on display in his front yard in Las Vegas. <span class=\"credit\">News 3 Las Vegas\/YouTube<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The hydrants have been on display at Saba\u2019s home since he moved into the neighborhood over a year ago without prior issue. <span class=\"credit\">News 3 Las Vegas\/YouTube<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After receiving the citation, Saba said the HOA instructed him to submit an application to keep the hydrants.<\/p>\n<p>Despite providing written support from neighbors, Saba\u2019s request was denied.<\/p>\n<p>He said he later received additional communication suggesting further\u00a0homeowner approval\u00a0might be required, KSNV News 3 reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a\u00a0fire inspector\u00a0and when I write up a violation on a building, imagine if I wrote up something that didn\u2019t even apply to what the write up was,\u201d he said. \u201cI would look like a fool.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>After receiving the citation, Saba said the HOA instructed him to submit an application to keep the hydrants. <span class=\"credit\">News 3 Las Vegas\/YouTube<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe title=\"Las Vegas resident, veteran cited by HOA over display of vintage fire hydrants\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FdSbNOT6oas?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The HOA has since informed Saba he may keep the hydrants, he confirmed Saturday to FOX Business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean this HOA in this neighborhood is out of control,\u201d Saba said. \u201c\u2026 The HOA thought that they could bully me and manipulate me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dispute has left Saba reconsidering his future in the neighborhood, according to KSNV News 3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just kind of for me was the last straw,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018I\u2019m not gonna go down without a fight.\u2019 I\u2019m hoping things actually improve for this neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Chad Cummings of Cummings &amp; Cummings Law\u00a0told Realtor.com\u00a0that disputes like this are not uncommon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHOA boards misapply their own governing documents all the time, and this case is a textbook example,\u201d Cummings said. \u201cThe board cited a rule about \u2018storage items\u2019 to regulate what are decorative display pieces.
