I really could not believe it,\u201d Duroy said, adding that she first met Knight in 2022 while they were working at a surgery center.<\/p>\n<p>Duroy said she had relocated to Florida to care for her mother when Knight\u2019s sister reached out to her about the fake cancer diagnosis \u2014 and being a cancer survivor herself \u2014 became her \u201cchemo angel,\u201d sending the con artist nearly $1,000 in gift cards and presents.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Knight\u2019s own text messages showed Knight confessing to posing as different people and creating GoFundMe accounts to maintain her cancer ruse, and she was using the funds to pay her bills and provide for her children. <span class=\"credit\">8 News Now \u00e2 Las Vegas\/YouTube<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really not the money for me. It\u2019s just the point, like I felt heartbroken for her,\u201d Duroy said.<\/p>\n<p>Prostate cancer develops in the prostate gland, which plays a key role in male reproductive function, according to the Mayo Clinic.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in men and, when detected early, is often highly treatable, though advanced cases can spread to other parts of the body.<\/p>\n<p>Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, claiming roughly 35,000 lives in the US each year.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Knight accepted more than $20K in donations to splurge on herself and her children. <span class=\"credit\">8 News Now \u00e2 Las Vegas\/YouTube<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another of Knight\u2019s victims, Rachel Riedel, described the fraudster as a \u201csociopath\u201d who \u201cwill scam you if she can touch you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt infuriates me that she would take advantage of her community, of her family,\u201d Riedel told KSNV.<\/p>\n<p>Following her guilty plea, Knight agreed to pay $19,787.12 in restitution as part of her plea deal, the Review-Journal reported.<\/p>\n<p>If Knight pays the restitution and completes probation and other requirements, she can withdraw her felony plea, plead guilty to misdemeanor theft and receive credit for time served.<\/p>\n<p>Knight is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
