Webber could face life behind bars if convicted.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Dayton Webber was indicted on first-degree murder charges by a Maryland grand jury <span class=\"credit\">Charles County Sheriff&#8217;s Office&#8217;s<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Webber, a quadruple amputee and cornhole pro, had posted videos of himself firing off a gun. <span class=\"credit\">Dayton Webber \/ YouTube<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re dealing with a homicide,\u201d said Charles County deputy state\u2019s attorney Karen Piper Mitchell. \u201cSomebody lost their life and from that base perspective, our job is to make sure we put the case together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old amputee was driving his Tesla when he allegedly shot and killed his friend Bradrick Wells, who was a passenger in the vehicle, during a heated argument in La Plata, about 40 miles south of Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Speaking outside the courthouse Monday, Webber\u2019s lawyer, Hammad Martin, said the fatal shooting was an act of self-defense.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Webber allegedly shot and killed his friend Bradrick Wells. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy Wells Family<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHe had to kill or be killed. That\u2019s what this case is,\u201d Matin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the evidence is going to be clear that this was not planned, something that was not premeditated,\u201d the attorney added. \u201cThis was someone in fear who did not know how to handle a situation that was such a traumatic event. This has always been a self-defense case. He is not guilty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors, however, said they saw no evidence that his life was in danger before the shooting. Witnesses in the car at the time said the two men were arguing when shots allegedly rang out.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A wild video circulating of Webber showed him appearing to snort drugs while doing a headstand against before firing his semi-automatic rifle. <span class=\"credit\">TMZ<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Webber lost all four limbs after he was stricken with a life-threatening bacterial infection as an infant so severe that he was given last rites.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to lead an active lifestyle, enjoying a range of sports from wrestling and football to shooting, bow hunting and motocross.<\/p>\n<p>He became the first quadruple amputee in the history of the American Cornhole League, and went pro during the 2021-2022 season, according to the Baltimore Watchdog, eventually climbing the ranks to become the best player in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>A trial date has not yet been set.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
