Gavin Newsom revealed in a rare interview about the horrific freak accident decades ago. <\/p>\n<p>Siebel Newsom\u2019s family tragedy made headlines this week after she described bonding with San Quentin prisoners in a resurfaced video by sharing details of her sister\u2019s death in 1981. <\/p>\n<p>On vacation in Hawaii, a golf cart that 6-year-old Siebel Newsom was sitting in went into reverse, fatally striking her older sister Stacia, who was 8 years old. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jennifer Siebel Newsom with her mother, Judy Siebel. <span class=\"credit\">Marin Magazine<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI felt the pressure to be perfect, to make my parents forget, by being two daughters instead of one,\u201d Siebel Newsom told the Los Angeles Times about the death in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>She told the paper the untimely death caused her to become a perfectionist. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Siebel Newsom, who grew up in a wealthy family in Marin County, Calif., the posh Branson boarding school before attending Stanford University.<\/p>\n<p>She was a small-time Hollywood actress before launching a career as an activist filmmaker focused on gender. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Siebel Newsom has rarely discussed her sister\u2019s horrific death.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for Vogue<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Siebel Newsom later testified against film producer Harvey Weinstein at his sexual assault trial. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure there was survivor\u2019s guilt, and I\u2019m sure, in my subconscious, it\u2019s like I have to make up for that loss, and I have to do something to improve other people\u2019s lives or have an impact, double my own, which is a little crazy,\u201d she said in the Los Angeles Times interview, reportedly hugging herself while recounting the shocking death.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Siebel Newsom said her sister\u2019s death sparked pressure to make \u201can impact.\u201d  <span class=\"credit\">GavinNewsom\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t use the word \u2018crazy.\u2019 But you know, it\u2019s aspirational.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Siebel Newsom has been dragged for cringeworthy lectures on gender politics.<\/p>\n<p>She took to Instagram last weekend to link President Donald Trump\u2019s firings of former Department of Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi to a \u201cstraitjacket of femininity that is only in service of men.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Siebel Newsom used her experience to bond with San Quentin inmates.  <span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Siebel Newsom was widely panned in February for bombing the podium at a press conference to deliver a self-righteous lecture to reporters on the importance of asking \u201con-topic\u201d questions. <\/p>\n<p>She has paid herself up to $300,000 annually through her activist nonprofit, The Representation Project, which has produced three films linking gender to societal problems: \u201cMiss Representation,\u201d \u201cThe Mask You Live In,\u201d and \u201cFair Play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her comments about her sister\u2019s death, which resurfaced this week, raised eyebrows after she linked it to crimes that may have been the result of \u201cwrong place, wrong time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She recounted having a \u201csimilar story\u201d as the inmates, adding that she wasn\u2019t punished \u201cbecause clearly it was an accident, but there\u2019s was probably an accident, too.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
