Thanks to our cutting-edge technological advancements and multi-layered security approach, we are confident we can implement this change while maintaining the highest security standards.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Travelers between the ages of 12 and 75 were ordered to remove their shoes ahead of scanning, but those who opted into TSA\u2019s Precheck Trusted Traveler program were allowed to keep their footwear on.<\/p>\n<p>The widely-detested shoes off rule came into force after \u201cShoe bomber\u201d Richard Reid tried to detonate explosives on a Dec. 22 2001 American Airlines flight from Paris to Miami.<\/p>\n<p>The plot failed and FBI bomb tech investigators found that around 10 ounces of explosives were packed into his footwear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reid pleaded guilty to eight terror-related charges on Oct. 4 2002 and he was sentenced to life in a federal lockup.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
