That kind of thoughtfulness and personal care just feels so rare these days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Simpson arrived, Wilson didn\u2019t have extra cash to tip and offered to call the store \u2014 but the driver waved it off.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cOh, you don\u2019t need to. It\u2019s a good tip,\u201d Simpson said in the video.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p>Footage of their viral interaction on TikTok has racked up over 600,000 views and sparked a wave of support.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson was so moved by the kindness that he launched a GoFundMe to help the driver, who is retiring on April 30 and has struggled financially, and has nearly reached its target of $45,000 in eight days.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson also revealed why the moment hit home.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wilson said the reaction to his kind gesture \u201chas got to be some kind of a scam.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">The Idaho Statesman<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhat Dan didn\u2019t know is that my wife and I are both visually impaired, so running out to the store for a \u2018quick\u2019 pickup is not something that is simple or easy for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat may have seemed like a tiny inconvenience to solve on his end actually made a huge difference on ours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simpson told the outlet that the response has been hard to process.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wilson launched the GoFundMe for Simpson after learning he was about to retire and has struggled financially. <span class=\"credit\">Brian Wilson\/TikTok<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis can\u2019t be real,\u201d he said, recalling how he kept checking his phone as donations poured in. \u201cI\u2019m thinking, \u2018This has got to be some kind of a scam.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The longtime delivery driver, who works nights to supplement his job with the Idaho Department of Agriculture, said he\u2019s always tried to help others.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>Simpson revealed that he spent time in prison for a DUI in his past, got sober, returned to school more than 20 years ago, and has still struggled to save for retirement despite years of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always tried to be a pretty nice guy and help people out, because I know what it\u2019s like to be down and out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Viewers rallied around the feel-good moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world needs more Dans,\u201d Wilson wrote in his TikTok caption, a sentiment echoed across the social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love when humans human,\u201d responded one user, while another said, \u201cThis is old school respect and going beyond duty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After donating to Simpson, one person wrote in a message on GoFundMe: \u201cI love that people respect how hard it is to do this job and risky, especially for older people. Bless you for doing this and happy retirement Dan!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, thanks to a quick stop for soda, Simpson is heading into retirement from his state job at the end of April with a financial boost and possibly bigger travel plans.<\/p>\n<p>He plans to continue delivering pizza for Domino\u2019s and hopes to use the GoFundMe money toward a trip to see the Redwood trees in California.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey say I went the extra mile, but for goodness\u2019 sake, it was no big deal,\u201d he said. \u201cWell, now I might go to Hawaii.
