height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft wp-block-nypost-editor-partner-article-links\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>US Senate candidate in Nebraska Dan Osborn is reportedly restructuring his campaign following complaints he has been improperly steering funds for personal use to his relatives, including his wife, who, a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleges, received funds illegally via the Osborn campaign, a web of political action committees and consulting firms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While paying family members is not illegal under federal election law, there are certain guidelines that must be followed, including that the services rendered are bona fide campaign services, and that they are paid at fair-market value.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News Digital reported last month\u00a0that conservative watchdog Americans for Public Trust filed a complaint with federal election officials alleging the Osborn campaign and two political action committees were engaging in an illegal \u201cscheme\u201d to pay nearly half-a-dozen of his relatives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Osborn\u2019s wife was among the relatives at the center of the complaint, having been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars from her husband\u2019s campaigns and his affiliated PACs, both directly and via two political consulting firms she was working for, or had an ownership stake in, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Independent Nebraska Senate candidate Dan Osborn with his wife, Megan, on March 26, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">Dan Osborn\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But, on Thursday, Osborn and his wife informed the\u00a0Omaha-World Herald\u00a0that she would be stepping away from her roles with the two consulting firms and would be joining her husband\u2019s campaign as its full-time operations manager.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not going to let Pete and his cronies dictate who runs my campaign,\u201d Osborn told the Omaha-World Herald. \u201cNo one works harder than my wife. Along with running our household and raising our kids, she has been instrumental in running my campaign.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to Fox News Digital, campaign spokesperson John Dolan called the concerns about Osborn\u2019s campaign spending \u201ca joke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy is a billionaire like Pete Ricketts so afraid of a mechanic?\u201d Dolan questioned, referring to incumbent GOP Nebraska Sen.\u00a0Pete Ricketts,\u00a0whom Osborn is challenging. \u201cRicketts and his allies are doing what they always do: throwing mud to distract voters from the fact that they\u2019re getting rich while bankrupting the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Dan Osborn and his wife, Megan, at a campaign event in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 2, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">Dan Osborn\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Osborn has been steadfast that his wife, reportedly a former bar manager, has been an instrumental part of his campaign and that payments have been in line with fair-market value rates.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, Megan has gotten money directly from her husband\u2019s campaign, and in other cases she has received it from two firms, one called Independent Campaigns LLC, which Megan has a one-third ownership stake in, and Dark Forest LLC, which official candidate disclosures show Megan gets compensation from.<\/p>\n<p>The firms were being paid for campaign services as well.<\/p>\n<p>Just two days after Independent Campaigns was set up, Osborn\u2019s Working Class Heroes Fund (WCHF) made its first $50,000 payment to the firm, according to\u00a0the Lincoln-Journal Star.<\/p>\n<div class=\"single__inline-module inline-module inline-module--newsletter aligncenter inline-module--nypostbusinessunit aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-newsletter\" data-source-unit=\"Inline Newsletter Module Morning Report\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__inner\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__title-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__unsubmitted-title-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with all you need to know\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMorning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Per Americans for Public Trust\u2019s FEC complaint, Independent Campaigns has received nearly $200,000 from Osborn\u2019s\u00a0principal campaign,\u00a0WCHF and another PAC called the League of Labor Voters (LLV), which Americans for Public Trust also alleges is controlled by Osborn.<\/p>\n<p>In total, per the Americans for Public Trust complaint letter, Osborn\u2019s wife has been able to rake in close to $300,000 for herself for things like \u201cstrategy consulting\u201d and work reimbursements.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the complaint against Osborn\u2019s campaign also includes payments made to two of Osborn\u2019s sisters-in-law, his brother-in-law and his daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Osborn\u2019s daughter, Georgia, a part-time dancer who Osborn says still needs help paying her bills, was given $4,200 from Osborn\u2019s first failed campaign that was defunct at the time.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Dan Osborn at a campaign event before the 2024 election. <span class=\"credit\">Dan Osborn for Senate<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The payment came between when Osborn\u2019s first 2024 campaign lost and before launching his 2026 bid. The money was for \u201cassistant services\u201d from the then-dormant campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps the Osborn family is teeming with previously undiscovered, dynastic political talent, akin to the Kennedys or Roosevelts,\u201d states the Americans for Public Trust complaint to the FEC. \u201cOr perhaps Mr. Osborn has realized his ability to funnel large amounts of unchecked campaign cash to his own family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Omaha-World Herald, Osborn\u2019s wife will not only no longer be working for the consulting firms she was with previously, but would also be divesting her stake in Independent Campaigns.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The complaint against Osborn\u2019s campaign also includes payments made to two of Osborn\u2019s sisters-in-law, his brother-in-law and his daughter. <span class=\"credit\">Dan Osborn for Senate<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The outlet also reported that Osborn and his wife indicated she would be paid a salary of $8,000 per month, which is slightly lower than the $9,000 per month that Osborn said his wife was making from multiple income sources prior to beginning work with her husband\u2019s first failed campaign in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDan Osborn only restructured how he pays his wife after we filed a complaint with the FEC that he was running afoul of campaign finance laws,\u201d Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust, told Fox News Digital on Friday. \u201cHowever, questions still remain regarding his payments to his daughter, his brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law, and his control over two federal PACs. Rest assured, Osborn may have changed tactics, but he isn\u2019t off the hook in his attempt to funnel campaign cash to his entire family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Osborn, who is running as an Independent, has also been criticized for his affiliations with Democrats despite committing to not caucusing with either major party if elected.<\/p>\n<p>Osborn is looking to unseat incumbent Sen. Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., after losing his 2024 challenge against\u00a0Sen.
