taking part in a huge money laundering scam.<\/p>\n<p>Disgraced Hong \u201cGrace\u201d Peng, 53, \u2014 who worked as a technical project manager for LAUSD \u2014 pled not guilty to facilitating an alleged eye-popping $22 million kickback scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The case comes as the scandal-plagued school district reels from fraud claims against Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure only said one word in court \u2013 \u201cyes\u201d \u2013 when the judge asked if she understood what was happened during the proceedings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She was released on her\u00a0own recognizance, The allegations date back to 2018.<\/p>\n<p>L.A. County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman\u00a0called the racket the largest kickback scheme ever in the nation\u2019s second-largest school system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case involves a blatant abuse of public\u00a0trust \u2014\u00a0funneling taxpayer dollars intended for students into personal coffers,\u201d Hochman said in a statement on March 26.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cmulti-year, multi-contract pay-to-play arrangement \u2026 siphoned millions of dollars from our schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An arrest warrant was issued\u00a0for Peng on March 19.<\/p>\n<p>Peng\u2019s co-accused,\u00a0Gautham Sampath of Flower Mound, Texas, was a senior executive at\u00a0Innive, the company that received the LAUSD contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Their alleged scheme was exposed in\u00a02022, after one of the involved parties bragged about it at a professional conference and was overheard by another LAUSD employee who reported the comments to district officials,\u00a0the official complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Sampath is expected to be arraigned on April 17.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer src=\"https:\/\/platform.instagram.com\/en_US\/embeds.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
