height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ex-Massachusetts cop Kelsey Fitzsimmons revealed the gunshot wound she suffered was an inch from her spine when a colleague opened fire on her last year as she plans on suing the department following her acquittal.<\/p>\n<p>The former North Andover police officer shared what appeared to be a graphic image of her injury this week in response to her former employer posting a flippant social media comment about her incoming legal action.<\/p>\n<p>During her high profile trial, a judge last Thursday found Fitzsimmons not guilty of assaulting a fellow officer, who shot her in her bedroom when she pulled a service weapon as police tried to serve a restraining order \u2013 though she claims she only wanted to hurt herself.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>North Andover police officer Kelsey Fitzsimmons during her trial.  <span class=\"credit\">NBC10 Boston<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fitzsimmons was suffering from severe postpartum depression in June 2025 when three cops she worked with showed up at her house to serve the papers from her ex-fianc\u00e9 that would remove her infant son from her care.<\/p>\n<p>While the criminal trial is behind her, the battle with her former employer appears far from over.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>When a news article about her planned lawsuit was posted online this week, a Facebook account belonging to the North Andover Police Department left a shocking comment. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn other shocking news!\u201d the department\u2019s account wrote \u2013 though town officials later claimed an ex-employee who still had access to the page posted it.<\/p>\n<p>Before the town\u2019s attempted cleanup, Fitzsimmons and her supporters unleashed on the police force.<\/p>\n<p>An X account that appeared to belong to Fitzsimmons showed a gunshot wound that went through her chest and out the other side.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The injury suffered following the June 2025 incident.  <span class=\"credit\">X \/ @KelseyCaterino<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cSince the [North Andover] PD wants to make their first public and also heartless statements tonight: This is my exit wound. An inch from my spine,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Her lawyer, Tim Bradl, also replied to North Andover police\u2019s comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you NAPD for confirming your institutional deliberate indifference,\u201d he wrote online, according to MassLive. \u201cSee you in Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fitzsimmons\u2019 lung was punctured by the shot and she spent over 50 days recovering, including five surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>The former cop and her legal team were expected to file presentment letters against the town Thursday, which is a required to get civil litigation underway.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Former North Andover officer Kelsey Fitzsimmons in uniform.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhat is my life worth to you? That\u2019s kind of how I feel,\u201d Fitzsimmons told NBC10 Boston on Wednesday about the anticipated lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>She and Bradl said the way police served the restraining order was \u201chorrible\u201d as the attorney questioned why her own colleagues were tasked with serving the papers.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzsimmons also recounted the moment she was shot with blogger Aidan \u201cTurtleboy\u201d Kearney during a podcast interview this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt truly felt like a force that burned the whole inside of my body is the only way I can explain it. Its\u2019s such a heavy force,\u201d Fitzsimmons said, adding the wound was \u201cless than an inch away from my spine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The officer who shot Fitzsimmons, Patrick Noonan, alleged she pointed the gun at him, and he thought she wanted to kill him or her fianc\u00e9 downstairs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said heard a \u201cclick\u201d noise before she \u201ctap racked\u201d twice to force a round into the chamber.
