height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Furious Nebraska homeowners have been left bewildered after being hit with bills up to $1,700 to repair public sidewalks that they didn\u2019t damage or are located directly in front of their homes.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in an Omaha neighborhood were tasked to repair walkways that are behind their properties, as well as panels that lead to the \u201csidewalk to nowhere,\u201d WOWT-TV reported.<\/p>\n<p>In Omaha, property owners must repair unsafe sidewalks, as per the city\u2019s municipal code, and can do the work themselves or hire a contractor, but homeowners have pointed out they are not responsible for other maintenance tasks such as mowing grassy areas or snow removal. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Residents are being tasked with repairing hazardous sidewalks that are not directly outside their homes. <span class=\"credit\">WOWT<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not responsible for snow removal and mowing so why are we responsible for sidewalk maintenance because the sidewalk is beyond the area the Homeowner\u2019s Association mows,\u201d resident Stephanie Bolli said.<\/p>\n<p>Residents have been quoted extortionate prices too, further enraging them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Grant Kitchen was billed $1,687.56 to get the hazardous panels replaced.<\/p>\n<p>He was hit with the bill \u2013 even though some of the panels at the end of the sidewalk were not really walked on, and led to shrubbery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re fixing something first off we didn\u2019t break, and second off is not usable by anyone who wants to use it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>This was echoed by Jim Frick, also billed $800, who said, \u201cThis is definitely unfairness.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Grant Kitchen was billed almost $1,700.  <span class=\"credit\">WOWT<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, Diane Briggs, a Hillsborough Association of Landowners spokesperson, told WOWT \u201cno determination\u201d regarding costs has been made.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>HOA officials are reviewing the situation promptly, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Sidewalk disputes have been a long-standing source of contention between Omaha residents and city officials.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Dean Wilson was billed $700 to repair damages to sidewalk panels located around the corner from his home, WOWT reported.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>He was being charged for damage he said he didn\u2019t cause.  <span class=\"credit\">WOWT<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He disputed the quote, claiming it wasn\u2019t his responsibility to fix them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s outside the white fence that\u2019s a perimeter for the entire neighborhood, so it doesn\u2019t make sense that this sidewalk is my responsibility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson\u2019s homeowner association agreed to cover the costs on his behalf.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
