I never have,\u2019 Keys told The Telegraph.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I knew I wanted to be with Lucie, but I couldn\u2019t emotionally get there. It took me forever to change course.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It was only the result of Lucie\u2019s patience, and my sister Susan\u2019s belief that she has always known what\u2019s right for me. So, it wasn\u2019t an overnight thing at all. And the rest is history.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Responding to Keys saying he has \u2018never felt\u2019 the age gap with his second wife, Lucie said: \u2018That\u2019s because you\u2019re my adult toddler.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>It was suggested, mainly on social media, that Julia had cancer at the time of the divorce but Keys insists this was not the case.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p>Keys, 68, also dismissed claims his current partner Lucie, who was friends with his daughter Jemma, was coerced into the relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018What\u2019s damaging is that people presume I ran away with my daughter\u2019s best mate, locked her in a room, and gave her no choice about whether she wanted to be with me or not,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018All of which is nonsense. Lucie\u2019s one of the most powerful, strong-minded individuals\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0come across.\u00a0She\u2019s\u00a0deeply passionate about women\u2019s rights. People see me as an easy target, but the narrative is not fair on her.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tWhy did Sky Sports sack Richard Keys?\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>Richard Keys and Andy Gray made sexist comments about female assistant referee Sian Massey.<\/p>\n<p>Believing their microphones had been switched off, Keys said: \u2018Somebody better get down there and explain offside to her.<\/p>\n<p>Gray responded: \u2018Yeah, I know. Can you believe that? Female linesman. Somebody\u2019s f*cked up big.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In another leaked clip, Keys was seen asking ex-England midfielder Jamie Redknapp whether he \u2018smashed\u2019 a female colleague.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Mind you, that\u2019s a stupid question. If you were anywhere near it, you definitely smashed it,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s\u00a0totally wrong.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Keys\u2019 second wife Lucie is a partner in private funds at Proskauer Rose, one of the largest New York law firms.<\/p>\n<p>Keys fronted Sky Sports\u2019 Premier League coverage for almost two decades before leaving the company in 2011 after making derogatory comments about female assistant referee Sian Massey.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p>His long-term co-presenter Andy Gray also left Sky Sports after more clips were leaked showing both behave in a sexist manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Prehistoric banter isn\u2019t acceptable in the modern world. I accept that,\u2019 Keys said at the time. \u2018We failed to change when the world has changed.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Asked about Keys\u2019 previous conduct, Rose said: \u2018For me, the most important thing is people\u2019s ability to change and evolve.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If I had met someone who was trying to justify that culture, there\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0have been anywhere for us to go. But that\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0the person I met.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I met someone who was traumatised, to an extent, by the culture he lived through. Except\u00a0somehow\u00a0he is marked as being the cause of it.
