Leonick\u00a0agreed to spring Corte \u2014 who had an outstanding bench warrant \u2014 on supervised release after his defense attorney claimed he brought the tot to a library to help find her parents, but a language barrier led to a misunderstanding about his intentions.<\/p>\n<p>But prosecutors didn\u2019t buy his attorney\u2019s claims and said Corte should have never been released. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe respectfully disagree with it [the outcome]. I think if you look at the facts of the case, clearly they\u2019re concerning,\u201d Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney told The Post on Sunday.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cAlso, you have a situation where there was already a bench warrant issued. This person has tenuous ties to the jurisdiction,\u201d Tierney said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is just another situation where it appears as though, you know, we\u2019re gonna have to act and act quickly to protect the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Corte allegedly led a 4-year-old child out of the back of Laundry Kingdom in Patchogue while she was there with her mother and took her to a nearby library.  <span class=\"credit\">Kevin Sheehan \/NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Suffolk County legal aid attorney Alexandra Dyroff told the courtroom at Corte\u2019s arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip that the alleged kidnapping appeared to be a result of miscommunication. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour honor, my client has had zero interaction with law enforcement. We\u2019re asking for a release on his own recognizance. He thought the girl lived alone without parents,\u201d Dryoff said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe took her to the library and told an employee there as such, but there was a language barrier. It seems to be a mistake,\u201d the defense attorney argued.<\/p>\n<p>Tierney maintained that the defense\u2019s argument did not alleviate his concerns about the allegations in the case. <\/p>\n<p>\u201dSo there\u2019s a lost child, and you believe a child is lost, and then you take that child to another place, and then you just leave that child there, isn\u2019t that worse?\u201d Tierney said about the defense lawyer\u2019s reasoning. \u201cAgain, these are allegations.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Suffolk County legal aid attorney Alexandra Dyroff told the courtroom at Corte\u2019s arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip that the alleged kidnapping appeared to be a result of miscommunication.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Corte allegedly chillingly told Suffolk County cops in substance after he was busted, \u201cI made a mistake when I took that child from here,\u201d Tierney reiterated. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce you interpose and intervene with the child, you have a responsibility,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can\u2019t just leave a child somewhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The DA stressed that prosecutors\u2019 request for a $150,000 cash bail, a $300,000 bond, or a $1.5 million partially secured bond in the case was justified, given the allegations. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think given the facts of this case \u2026 given the fact that he already has a bench warrant out and it\u2019s alleged that he removed, he kidnapped this child from away from their mother \u2026 based on all those factors, that\u2019s why we asked for such a high bail,\u201d Tierney said. <\/p>\n<p>Leonick ordered Corte to come back to court on April 16 on a second, unrelated charge stemming from a warrant out of the Village Court of Patchogue.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
