Mamdani joked about remembering Sliwa from somewhere during the short skit.  <span class=\"credit\">Craig McCarthy \/ NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The skit spoofed the fact that Mamdani, who is allergic to cats, is actually getting a series of allergy shots so he and his cat-loving wife, Rama Duwajii, can bring a pet into their new mayoral digs.<\/p>\n<p>But some Republicans aren\u2019t laughing.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWhen you don\u2019t have a bed to sleep in you have to find anyone who will take you,\u201d fumed former Gov. David Paterson. \u201cYou can tell when people are true to the party, and I thought it was reprehensible.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The two political rivals also appeared on stage together for debates during the 2025 mayoral race. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sliwa insisted his only motive was helping animals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought it was great because it was promoting rescuing animals,\u201d he told The Post after the skit, explaining a Mamdani staffer called two weeks ago to ask if Sliwa would appear in a skit about the mayor \u201cgetting vaccinated for cats\u201d \u2014 something Sliwa said the two political rivals actually agree on.<\/p>\n<p>Still, critics blasted Sliwa\u2019s light\u2011hearted theatrics as cold\u2011hearted betrayal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Curtis Sliwa and his wife Nancy are some of New York City\u2019s most vocal supporters of feline causes. <span class=\"credit\">Robert Miller<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBetrayed his family. Betrayed everyone,\u201d one GOP operative railed, insisting on anonymity to trash the cat lover\u2019s cameo.<\/p>\n<p>Paterson and others are still furious Sliwa refused to drop out of last fall\u2019s weird three\u2011way mayoral race to clear the way for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo \u2014 who the anti-Mamdani coalition viewed as the best chance to stop him from winning. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Curtis] was never going to win,\u201d Paterson fumed Sunday. \u201cHe got 7 percentage points, seven \u2014 even the Jets get seven when they play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Guardian Angels founder refused to step aside and even walked out of a gig at 77 WABC radio because of pressure from hosts and owner John Catsimatidis for him to clear the path for Cuomo.<\/p>\n<p>Sliwa rival Fernando Mateo \u2014 who organizes bodegas owners and ran against Sliwa in the 2021 Republican mayoral primary \u2014 said the former candidate will do anything to get media attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople shouldn\u2019t be shocked, this isn\u2019t new and there\u2019s likely more to come,\u201d Mateo told The Post Sunday. \u201cHe\u2019s a compulsive liar who constantly seeks and feeds on attention, especially from the media.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sliwa said his fellow GOPers were being unfair to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf people are upset at that why aren\u2019t you mad at the President Donald Trump who has welcomed him into the White House twice?\u201d Sliwa griped.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Sliwa \u2014 who is already planning to seek the GOP\u2019s mayoral nomination for 2029 \u2014 stressed he is not close to the Democratic Socialists of America darling mayor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the only contact I\u2019ve had with Zohran since the election,\u201d Sliwa said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
