That we can exploit,\u201d to which she responds, \u201cYea, a lot of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman says Peng conspired with Sampath in a pay-to-play scheme where Peng fed more than $22 million in contracts to a company owned by Sampath from 2018\u20132022.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announces charges against Peng and Sampath.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Sampath then routed and laundered more than $3 million in kickbacks back to Peng through various intermediaries, Hochman alleges.<\/p>\n<p>According to the criminal complaint, Innive received over $39 million in payments from LAUSD between 2017 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The text messages appear to show Sampath and Peng knew what they were doing was wrong. \u201cDelete all watsup chats\u2026 if anyone sees the text about these internal things it will be a prb,\u201d Sampath wrote on Feb. 18, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Later that year, Peng texts Sampath, \u201cLet\u2019s grab these money first.. Its already in the pocket. Low hanging fruits\u2026 let\u2019s get these money\u2026 It\u2019ll be good for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The complaint shows several payments to various companies all owned by Sampath. At one point the duo discusses setting up the additional entities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to come up with lot of companies,\u201d Sampath says, \u201cat least 3-4 to take out the money\u2026 Close to million will be transferred to you\u2026 Easy to track unless we are very careful,\u201d he continues.<\/p>\n<p>Peng responds, \u201cShould we start another company under a different name?\u2026 I can setup a company in HK\u2026 China\u2026 or Singapore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another text in June 2018 revealed alleged billing practices, with Peng texting Sampath: \u201cI have a way to get those money.
