That was my baby. He was a bright light. He was my everything. It was us. He was my right hip. I always tried to protect him. I want to tell him \u2018I\u2019m sorry. He was a bright light. He had plans. He had dreams. He had goals. He was on the dean\u2019s list. He was on the National Championship team, he was going to play varsity. My brother was very loved by everyone,\u201d Bannister said. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHe had a billion-dollar smile. He was very affectionate. I just keep crying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ka\u2019Mardre was killed at the public housing building after a fellow 16-year-old allegedly took a handgun out of his backpack and passed it around to four people in the room, according to police and court records.<\/p>\n<p>He then allegedly took the gun back and removed a loaded magazine from the firearm. He was well-mannered, good in school, a great athlete. He used to struggle in school, and I said he couldn\u2019t play sports until he got his academics to number one,\u201d the heartbroken father said. \u201cHis academics now match his sports. He put in the hard work. He\u2019s been on a journey. I lost another son six years ago \u2014 my oldest  \u2014 and now I lost my baby \u2026 It hasn\u2019t hit me yet. It was a shock. I hurt. I was supposed to take photos of him on his birthday on Friday to celebrate him,\u201d McRae said.<\/p>\n<p>There will be another vigil on Friday evening, which was supposed to be Coleman\u2019s 17th birthday, at the high school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a goofball. I\u2019m just so sad. It just hurts. His mom is hurting. She is trying to get her thoughts together. She is in a nightmare right now,\u201d said Coleman\u2019s aunt, Elexiss Oquendo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe thinks this isn\u2019t real, and she will wake up. Friday is his birthday.
