The role combines a formal partnership with practical business support. Recognition concerns the facilitator\u2019s eligibility; the programme\u2019s sector focus, mentoring arrangements, services and commercial terms describe how that support works in practice.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-what-is-the-dutch-startup-visa\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Dutch startup visa?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dutch residence permit for startups is for entrepreneurs from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland who want to build an innovative business in the Netherlands. An innovative idea can be the starting point, but applicants must still meet the permit conditions, including registration in the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) Trade Register. The permit is valid for a maximum of one year. The scheme concerns the development of an innovative idea into a business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working with a qualifying facilitator is a condition of the permit. The cooperation must be recorded in a signed agreement. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) publishes conditions for facilitators, which include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They must have experience guiding innovative startups.<\/li>\n<li>They must be financially stable.<\/li>\n<li>They may not hold a majority interest in the company.<\/li>\n<li>They may not be a family member up to the third degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The startup permit cannot be extended beyond its one-year term. A founder may then apply for a self-employed residence permit, subject to its requirements. Under the transition route, a facilitator\u2019s declaration records successful completion of at least three months of guidance. It does not guarantee approval.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-six-aspects-of-facilitator-services\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Six aspects of facilitator services<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-1-sector-experience\"><strong>1. Scope of business support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-rvo-describes-support-as-tailored-to-the-entrepreneur-s-needs-examples-include-operational-management-marketing-research-and-investor-acquisition-these-are-possible-areas-of-support-not-a-standard-package-supplied-by-every-facilitator-programme-descriptions-and-agreements-set-out-the-services-offered-and-the-responsibilities-of-each-party\">RVO describes support as tailored to the entrepreneur\u2019s needs. Examples include operational management, marketing, research and investor acquisition. These are possible areas of support, not a standard package supplied by every facilitator. Programme descriptions and agreements set out the services offered and the responsibilities of each party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-4-networks-and-introductions\"><strong>4. Networks and introductions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-some-programmes-include-events-or-introductions-to-other-founders-investors-specialist-advisers-and-potential-customers-access-to-a-network-describes-an-opportunity-to-meet-people-it-does-not-establish-that-an-investment-customer-contract-or-professional-service-will-follow\">Some programmes include events or introductions to other founders, investors, specialist advisers and potential customers. A facilitator\u2019s feedback is business support, not a decision by the immigration authorities.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-recognised-facilitators-beyond-amsterdam\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recognised facilitators beyond Amsterdam<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognised facilitators operate in different parts of the Netherlands. The Unusual Space, based in Utrecht, appears on RVO\u2019s recognised-facilitator list. The Unusual Space\u2019s startup visa programme describes facilitation, mentorship, events and access to workspace among its services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facilitator services and immigration decisions have different roles. Mentorship, business support, networks and commercial terms describe the programme itself. RVO advises on relevant aspects of the application, while the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) makes the residence-permit decision. Participation in a facilitator programme does not guarantee approval.
