It began with a conclusion,\u201d Spiro wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The film premiered Tuesday at the Venice Film Festival to a lengthy standing ovation and strong reviews.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gibney traces the career and life of the South Africa-born Musk from dot-com entrepreneur in Silicon Valley in the early 2000s to becoming the world\u2019s first trillionaire.<\/p>\n<p>It also delves into his personal life, including his difficult childhood and the 14 known children he has fathered with a series of women.<\/p>\n<p>Trade bible Variety called it a \u201clacerating portrait,\u201d while Deadline said the \u201cdamning\u201d film had \u201cthrashed\u201d Musk as \u201cpetty, narcissistic, megalomaniacal, cruel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter puts not only Gibney and Jigsaw on notice but everyone involved in the film\u2019s release, including HBO, Bleecker Street and Universal.<\/p>\n<p>It focuses in particular on a sequence that Spiro says advances a conspiracy theory: that Musk knew early on election night 2024 that Trump had won because his Starlink satellites had been used to influence the result.<\/p>\n<p>Jigsaw hit back in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying scrutiny of powerful public figures is protected by the First Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>This was something all Americans should defend, \u201cincluding the associates of Elon Musk, who has proclaimed himself to be a \u2018free speech absolutist,\u2019\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>Gibney\u2019s documentaries have often delved into powerful groups, including the Church of Scientology, the Enron corporation and Israel-Iran spy wars in \u201cZero Days.\u201d He won an Academy Award for best documentary for \u201cTaxi to the Dark Side,\u201d which tackles the US military\u2019s interrogation practices in Afghanistan.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the grounds that litigation is \u201creasonably anticipated,\u201d the letter from Musk\u2019s lawyer orders the filmmakers to preserve every trace of the project, including footage, interview transcripts, research files and internal communications.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has spent several days attacking Gibney on X, the platform he owns, calling the film a \u201chit piece that misses\u201d and dismissing it as boring.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
