Children ages 13 and over can use TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA high level of protection should not be an opt-in; it should be the default,\u201d EU tech chief Henna Virkkunen said in a statement at that time.<\/p>\n<p>Under the DSA, children\u2019s account settings have, by default, the strongest safety and security protections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTikTok\u2019s account settings fail to meet this standard, as they expose minors\u2019 accounts and content too widely,\u201d the EU said in its preliminary view.<\/p>\n<p>Britain\u2019s communications regulator also launched an investigation into TikTok in July.<\/p>\n<p>The UK probe will look into whether TikTok is doing enough under UK law to protect children from harmful content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis investigation will seek to establish whether there are reasonable grounds to believe that TikTok has failed, or is failing, to comply with its legal obligations,\u201d Ofcom said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>It added that it would in particular look at TikTok\u2019s age-verification model.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
