Confidence is built, discipline is instilled, friendships are created, and a sense of belonging is found by kids who might not have discovered it anywhere else. Nine in 10 parents say that playing sports helps their kids build character (92%) and teaches them essential life skills (90%). Additionally, 88% say that even on a tight budget, they make room to invest in their children’s extracurricular activities (First Tee / The Harris Poll, 2025). No parent needs convincing that this experience is worth giving their kid. What’s changed is whether they can afford to.

The average American family spent $1,016 on their kid’s primary sport in 2024, a figure that has climbed 46% since 2019, twice the rate of general inflation over the same period (Project Play / The Aspen Institute, 2025 Parent Survey). Factor in the same child’s secondary sports, and the number rises to nearly $1,500 annually, before accounting for siblings, travel upgrades, or the private training sessions that have become an unspoken expectation for competitive programs. Parents surveyed reported costs climbing as high as almost $25,000 a year at the top of the range (Project Play / The Aspen Institute, 2025 Parent Survey), a reminder of how steep that number can get for the families paying the most. For lower and middle-class families, the budget is getting harder to stretch every season, sometimes past the breaking point, and that’s not a burden Signature Athletics believes families should be carrying alone.

Worse, the rising cost hasn’t come with a better experience. Registration fees go up. Uniform orders still take months to arrive. And the administrative chaos that defines the back-end of most programs rarely stays in the back-end. It lands squarely on families in missed communications, scrambled logistics, and hours spent chasing down answers no one seems to have. The money is leaving family bank accounts and disappearing into a system that was never built for efficiency, and absorbing that cost has never had a real advocate working on their behalf inside it. Signature Athletics is working from a different premise: that a family’s season should give back more than it takes, as one connected system solving problems most programs are left to handle alone. Fixing that means going after each piece of that same season, starting with the one families feel first: the uniform order.

For families, the uniform experience alone has always been one of the more needlessly painful parts of the season. The size charts, the check written to a coach who is already chasing down forty other checks, the wait that can stretch into months (USA Teamwear).

Signature Locker, the platform’s uniform and team store division, replaces all of that with something closer to ordinary online shopping: a branded team store where parents order uniforms and spirit wear directly, gear is made on-demand and ships straight to their door in 13 days on average, and a dedicated support team is there if anything goes wrong. Every purchase, the kind families are making anyway just to show up for their kid, also earns the program 10% back in Signature Dollars, credit the program can put toward things like next season’s uniforms, gear, or waiving costs for families who need it. It’s a built-in fundraiser that runs quietly in the background without ever asking a parent to sell another raffle ticket.

A smoother uniform order is one relief. It isn’t the only thing a parent can feel about how a program is run. It shows up in smaller ways too. A program director who’s slow to text back, a schedule change that reaches half the team, a season that feels like it’s being held together by whoever has a free hour that week. More often than not, it’s the same program director playing HR person, bookkeeper, and office manager, tasks with as little connection to coaching and child development as the paperwork they come wrapped in. Every hour spent wearing those hats is an hour not spent on the season a family is paying for.

Signature Media, the platform’s media and sponsorship arm, launched the Back2Sports Partner Program to go after exactly that: partnering with best-in-class providers for the functions every club has to manage. It’s live today with G&A Partners, a national HR, payroll, and administrative services provider, giving programs access to enterprise-grade HR and payroll at competitive rates, with sponsorship dollars layered on top that programs can direct into scholarships for the kids who need them most. Insurance, banking, and other categories are next in development under the same model. Each partnership aims at the same goal of easing the administrative load on the director and turning that time back into something a family can feel. For a parent, that’s built to show up as something simpler: a program director who answers texts, a season that runs on time, a program with more room to plan ahead, and sponsorship dollars a program can choose to put toward scholarships to get more kids involved in the game.

A better back office still won’t answer the questions a parent is Googling at 11pm. What’s actually normal to spend on club fees? Is this recruiting camp worth the flight? How do I get my kid to talk to me on the car ride home? Questions like that used to get sorted out one search and one panicked group text at a time. Signature Media built the Sport Parent Survival Guide (SPSG), a newsletter written specifically for youth sports families, so a parent finally has somewhere real to take those questions. And once a family’s already spending money on things like equipment, gear, or a hotel room for a tournament, the Back2Sports Hub is there to make sure some of that spending comes back, with discounts through partners like Signature Sports Camps, national hotel chains, and more. The same audience that reads SPSG and uses the Back2Sports Hub is exactly who national brands want to reach, and Signature Media built its sponsorship model around that, too. Signature Media sells sponsorship packages to national brands, and many of those packages are structured with a portion earmarked for giving back, funding that’s designed to flow through the Signature Foundation into scholarships for kids in Signature Partner Programs who couldn’t otherwise afford to play, or to the programs themselves, toward operating costs in ways that can lower registration fees across the roster.

A parent can experience every one of those things without their kid’s club ever changing hands, but some clubs go through something bigger. Signature Sports Brands, the platform’s operator-led M&A model, acquires a program outright. Carolina Lacrosse Association (CLA) is what that looks like from the inside.

Signature’s approach is simple. The person who built something and knows the community firsthand is the one who should keep running it, just with real support behind them now. That’s the model, built so the program can create more value for the families paying into it and the kids experiencing it.

Before joining, CLA was a program built on the same thing many youth sports clubs run on: a director doing double duty as a coach, an admin, and a fundraiser, with more passion than hours in the week.

Joining Signature didn’t mean the club answered to someone new. Ricky Reyes stayed on as Program Director and CEO. What changed was everything operating behind him including finance, accounting, marketing support, uniforms, and more. For a parent, that showed up as the difference on the other side of it. A coach present for the team instead of buried in logistics, communication that no longer disappeared into the gaps, and a program with the capacity to plan a season instead of just surviving it.

That added capacity showed up in ways parents could see directly. CLA introduced ‘Start,’ an entry-level track for kids new to lacrosse, and ‘Play,’ a recreational tier most competitive clubs don’t offer, a lower-cost alternative to the competitive path.

“Signature gave us the infrastructure to invest in coaching, player development, communication, and new programming instead of getting buried in administration. That’s allowed us to serve more players, create more opportunities, and stay focused on why we exist in the first place,” Reyes says, of what changed for the families in his program since joining Signature Sports Brands.

Ricky Reyes, Program Director and CEO of Carolina Lacrosse Association, coaching young lacrosse players on the field. The Foundation runs Free Try-Sport Days, round-robin style events where any kid can show up and try multiple sports with no registration fee, no prior experience, and no barrier to entry, and the Back2Sports Scholarship Fund, built to support kids in Signature Partner Programs who might otherwise age out of the sports they love simply because the cost got too high.

Every piece of the Signature Athletics platform exists for one reason: somewhere, right now, a parent is deciding whether they can afford this season. Under the Signature Athletics model, that parent’s invoice may look a little different, and their whole experience of the season is designed to look different as well.

A sponsor funds a scholarship instead of just buying ad space. The uniform order that used to take up to three months (USA Teamwear) arrives at the door in 13 days. Every purchase, the kind families are making anyway just to show up for their kid, also earns the program 10% back in Signature Dollars, a built-in fundraiser that helps programs run more sustainably without ever asking a parent to sell another raffle ticket. The club running that season is still led by the person who built it, backed now by Signature Sports Brands. The questions that used to have nowhere to go, about travel, about recruiting, about what happens next season, now have a newsletter and a savings marketplace built for exactly that. And if the number is still too high, there’s a Foundation working to make sure cost is never the reason a kid stops playing.

As Signature Athletics grows, the goal is for the experience and the access to grow with it, as part of their mission to get 10 million kids playing sports by 2030.

There’s a chance this conversation is happening at your kitchen table too, and it’s the one Signature Athletics exists to answer. The Sport Parent Survival Guide gives you real answers on cost, recruiting, and everything else that comes up before the next registration deadline hits. And if you’re already spending on travel, gear, or tournament weekends, the Back2Sports Hub is built to send some of that money back to you.

<div style="display: grid;
